In politics, no... he's holds no elected office. But he is a staunch conservative in the Ronald Regan mold and the main voice of dissent to the democrat party. He has the most popular to radio show with 20 million listeners so he reaches a lot of people, which is why the democrats are trying to shut him up. Go to www.rushlimbaugh.com if you ever want to compare the context of his words to what the media people cherry pick and twist around in sound bites. |

Did it ever occur to you Rush Limbaugh is part and parcel, a part, of that "drive-by media" he's always ranting and raving about. He's no different from any other media personality. He is like the #1 talk radio personality. He's just some guy on the AM radio who rants for 3 hours against liberals and democrats. That's about it. Along with Sean Hannity, they are simply political hacks of the Republican party. GOP propaganda to put it in simpler terms. |

Where's the rationalization? Regan showed the blueprint for 2 landslide victories. Rush is a conservative in that mold. Once the GOP started drifting away from that, they fell apart and continute to show no leadership. They can't inspire the base by acting like democrats. |

Now you know how I've felt about Olbermann and Matthews... but you don't see republicans trying to draft petitions to get them off the air. Silencing the opposition is important to one party in particular.
Edit: Exit question... if Rush is such a damage to the Republican party, why are the Democrats trying to get him to shut up? |

Limbaugh is an extremist. He represents the extreme right. Olbermann and Matthews are hardly extremists. |

Oh please. Don't bring Matthews or Olbermann into this. They're like Bob Novak or Joe Scarborough.
Rush = Bill Maher.
And Democrats aren't really trying to get Rush to shut up. Obama wants to govern and he sees Rush as an obstinate fool trying to insert his own personal agenda into politics. So he told Republicans to snap out of their trance and get back to the business of governing.
If that constitutes Democrats piling on, trying to "shut Rush up" then call me Erin Andrews.
