Total Job Loss for January were 626,000.

Sentinal
To offset that number how many were created. That will give a more accurate idea of the unemployment rate.

If had access to money I'd be buying up foreclosed real estate in the US. You can houses for nothing these days. I think that's what helped the increase in house sales in the US from Nov. to Dec.

man...

A few hundred thousand of disposable cash right now and I'd be a millionaire in 10 years...

Ppl with cash are laughing right now...

I've seen mini mansions on HUGE property in major cities sellin for a quarter mill down there...

I don't know if anyone watches 'My First Home' on TLC, but it shows people moving into their first homes, and i'm just amazed at the prices on some of these places.

I swear to god, every episode gets more and more ridiculous about how cheap you can get a house, and how many houses are being foreclosed up for sale.

Skipper
Right now, cash wins, debt loses.
Unfortunately most people/companies are stuck addressing debt rather than taking advantage of basement prices on everything from real estate to stocks to corporate jets to cheerios.

Like I said somewhere else before..

I really think that all of these home flipping shows had a HUGE hand in this crisis...

Everybody and their grandmother saw these shows, figured it must be that easy to make huge cash and bought houses....

Combine that with banks giving mortgages to these get rich quick ppl who really shouldnt be getting mortgages...

And then these flippers discover that it's not even nearly as easy to flip houses and ended up failing with these loans that they can't afford...

and thats how it started...

IMO....

Home reno shows were a symptom of the problem, not the cause.

Well the main issue is that on this show, majority of the people were able to purchase a house with only as little as 5% down.
A lot of the people were looking to buy a house with $0 saved, and had to sell some of their personal belongings just to make it to 5%.

It's most likely too now that every single person on that show is now out of a home...

That is why our market isn't in as bad shape as the US. On my condo, I can't remember, but I think its 20% before you even move in...

I know I did :D lol

The only thing I was getting at was that you can purchase a house with as little as 5% down, and in same cases not even that much.

At least here you need to be able to get financing for the first 20% somehow.
