Cool Biographies

I have a book report due in a few weeks and I'm having trouble finding a truly interesting biography, what better place than the c0r. The requirements are that this person must have had an important beneficial impact in society and it must be either an authorized biography or an autobiography. I'm sick of the usual stuff and I just yawned at the people some of my classmates are doing; John Lenon, Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe.
I was thinking something of an artist, preferably not THAT well know. It would be interesting to read about something of an architect, jazz musician, artist, journalist...etc.
So far I'm with Ian Curtis on this , but I want some more options. |

| How about some of the pioneers of electronic music, or the rave/acid house movement? Surely one of them would have a biography, right? Maybe Kraftwerk or something (not sure if you can do bands, or just individuals?) |
