That should be a good lens for taking wedding shots actually. Prime lenses FTW. |

I love that lens! :D
I want to find the older one, the metal body one, cause the plastic one is really cheap feeling.
On the other hand, its so cheap that it can break and its not a big deal to replace. |

Yeah, the mark 1 is hard to find, huh? I've been looking for one too :p |

And? |
And it was fun, not too demanding, not too hard, came along with free foods and drinks, and girls. And I got paid for it. |

Money is often the issue. Decent wedding photographers are pricey ;) |

| 50mm is useless with a small canon, to properly do weddings you need a very wide angle lens for group shots. |

My advice:
Try your best to keep the staged 'everyone smile on 3' pictures down. Capture the true element and be natural. Some of the best pictures are those where it is like the people did not know the camera existed. Also - be familiar with where you are going to shoot. Don't walk in without knowing the layout of ALL of the places.
Examples

Just my 2 cents. Take it or leave it! |

5D or better with 10mm EF lens. (Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5)
or 50D/40D/30D/etc with 10mm = 16mm (1.6X crop factor)
You can get away with a 24mm lens even with crop factor, most wedding photographers shoot with the 24-70mm f/2.8 Canon L lens. |

Note: All of those pictures on DA are from my Canon Powershot A620.
Here are some I took today with my Rebel.
My friends birthday. We went to a fancy restaurant and the food sucked ass.

Earlier in the day.
