I'm going to be a Wedding Photographer (pg. 3)

I've shot a wedding with an XT and the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS and got good wide angle at 17 and nice portrait style shots higher up.

I love that lens, its fast and wide. Only problem is how big it is, and the build quality feels a bit cheap for how much it costs.

If you have an EF-S mount body I would recommend it.

Be sure to take lots of underskirt shots of the bride. And hook us up.

My advice:

Try your best to keep the staged 'everyone smile on 3' pictures down. Capture the true element and be natural. Some of the best pictures are those where it is like the people did not know the camera existed. Also - be familiar with where you are going to shoot. Don't walk in without knowing the layout of ALL of the places.

this is quality captain obvious material

Good luck, you understand these pics will be important to them so you need to get alot of practice and no matter how good you are... TAKE MILLIONS of pics.

I'm paying £990 for our wedding photographer, my fiancee modeled for her website so we got good deal, should have been £1500, you get good and your into the money.

Just got back from the wedding. Holy . I was running my ass all over the place sweatin like a dog.:p

It went very well...until i was viewing my pictures at the reception and some douche bag opened the front doors of the church right before the bride and her father were coming down the isle, underexposing the must have picture.     Made a flippin silhouette. One of them came out decent but still ed up. I shot it in RAW so i should be able to fix it.

I was talking to the old lady that runs the church asking her if i can go up to the balcony for a birds eye view, and she said no, it's condemned.

I scoped out the church the other day and went up there, there was nothing wrong with it. She left i went up top to get my pictures.:p

All in all it was fun. I could definitely make a career out of this.
Will post some pictures after I'm done tweaking them.

I've had the same kind of issue many times. Gotta be quick with the exposure compensation, and the metering modes.

Glad that the rest went ok though :) You have to post some of your shots man!

You can get away with a 24mm lens even with crop factor, most wedding photographers shoot with the 24-70mm f/2.8 Canon L lens.

actually that 10-22mm you are referring to is and EF-S lense which won't work on the 5D.... or any other full frames.

my 5Dmk2 is in the mail, can't friggin wait:gsmile: :gsmile: :gsmile:

I already sold my 5D with the grip for 1650$ canadian, no lense.

I got the 5Dmk2 for 3250$ canadian with all the taxes.

I really want the Mk2... I'd sell my 5D as well... but I dont know, having two 5D bodies (granted totally different) would be nice.

Right now I use my old Rebel XT as my other body with the EF 70-200mm f/4L or the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 AS.

Also I dont shoot nearly as much as I should... work sucks. :( Actually though we have a photography studio there and one of the art-director guys was like "If you want to learn to shoot studio stuff then maybe you could" but I am a software developer so I dont know how that'd work.

Plus we shoot Nikon there... :(
