It really upsets me when this happens (it always does too). They book virtually all big trance events the SAME night--it leads to crowd depletion. Parkwest looks bad ass no doubt--but KARU is 10x better than Parkwest in my opinion. Parkwest has good lighting and sound, but it's a standard "box" club like virtually any other. KARU is different than any of the others (in a really good way) and the line-up there is pretty bad ass too. I'm a huge fan of Markus and Blake (being from Chi-Town)...but an Anjuna night is again....different. The chances of seeing those guys again in a group...well it won't be happening for me. Also, the fact that Karu has a terrace/garden area is fantastic...even if i have to pay separate cover to see Hawtin and those guys---another plus for Karu that night.

personally i hated karu in 2007. the sound was waaaaay too loud, you couldnt smoke in the mainroom (a plus for some), it was a mission to go back and forth, the fish smell coming from the restaurant, and the insane drink prices (i think it was $5 more than anywhere else that wmc), just all lead to a really horrible experience. oh and a&b sucked. atleast sander van doorn saved that night.
but to each their own. if you had a good time there, then by all means check it out again. |

| Yea i can't deny all of those things...but i was at Karu a few weeks ago (it's a hip hop club now apparently) and the main room was MUCH better (they have LED walls--better layout/decor) and the sound was great. The prices---well---no. Prices are outta countrol--but i'm expecting that regardless. I never noticed a bad smell any time i have been there...it may have been that one time. As far as how Above and Beyond played---kind of weak i'll agree...but i've heard them play a great set...and i'm thinking if the crowd is there..it will help. You simply cannot have a great vibe unless a crowd shows up. |

Last year Markus played from like 2:30 to 7:30-8:00.
I wasn't a big fan of Parkwest, but I am so excited to see Gareth Emery that I am definitely going to this. Add in Markus and Cosmic Gate and you have yourself an epic night. :) |

I'll see if I can catch all the openers at the Anjuna party and head over to this if it isn't clusterfuk.
I prefer the openers @ Anjuna and prefer Markus over A&B. lol.

I think I am going to pick one or the other. I can see Markus on Tuesday @ Toronto meets Miami.
The only thing holding me back is I don't like Parkwest that much it's just like a box. Karu is way better! |
