unfortunately, the cops dont really do anything. i had a $3000+ car stereo system stolen from my car a few years ago. i filed a report and i asked him if i will get my stuff back but the cop said "there is not really much we can do. we dont go out there looking for your stuff back. you can only hope that it crosses our path." well, at least he was honest. |

Yeah ^ Seems like its Detective TA for me. You would think for some high-end material stuff there would be something in place with the Pawn Shops and the police stuff.

hey Barry, I'm really sorry to hear about what happened to your car. The parking spaces at or around the Guv have been notoriously bad for break and enters for some time.
Frankly I wouldn't even chance it by putting a blanket over anything of value. It's always better to lock it up in your trunk or to take it with you/leave it somewhere else. I just hope that you manage to recover it or at the very least, have the insurer compensate you the value.
I also hate to suggest this, and this goes for anyone, but be aware of what you post on this forum when you make plans to meet-up for parties, club nights, etc. It only takes a few degrees of separation for someone to figure out what's going on and use that as an opportunity to commit theft. I'm not suggesting it was applicable in this case but just a word of caution. I've met a lot of genuinely good people from this site before, but sometimes I think it also gets too easy to become too trusting.
There is random theft, and then there's targeted theft. Sometimes you can't prevent the inevitable, but we can always help reduce the risk.
Best of luck in your recovery!

I feel your pain man, something very similar happened to me in that same area, except the guys who stole my decided it would be funny to scratch up the entire car and all the windows too...
Keep your chin up and do a round at the pawnshops, once Monday and another Tuesday. If you still in the gutter, msg me im buying a 4D for really cheap, and can get you the same deal.
peace. |
Awww Anas...your awesome to offer him the deal. What price are they going for these days? Usually hot items are 1/4 to 1/2 the market price, so maybe someone should put out the word that they are looking for a hot item and see who bites.
Peace out.....P

As for the lot, everything else seemed to be in shape. there was even a hell of alot of ppl around, mostly going to guv. :s
Serial ended in a 096 |
Really, really sorry to hear that Barry. I hope you're able to recover at least some of your stuff.
I know you live out of town...maybe what you could do is get a listing of the downtown Pawn Shops and phone them and let them know what happened, and give them your phone number so they can at least call you if something comes up. Tell them you have filed a police report, and you can identify the products by serial number. That way you don't have to drive into the city all the time just to look around unsuccessfully. |

^Thanks Lisa
That i think is the plan for now. and watch the online sales.
ps. i really dont think it was someone on TA, but that would be heartbreaking if it was found off this board. I posted "we are meeting at scotland yard" like 3 hours before, and only my good friends know where i usually park, so I cant see it being off this board.
I took my laptop and other gear with me to the pre-meet and thought......the mixer will be ok. :s

That would indeed be terrible. You also don't know how many ppl read these boards that you don't know though. So it is possible that someone could have saw that on here. I don't think that's that likely though.
If you call the pawn shops and tell them your story. You may also want to call them back every once in awhile just to check, since you can't always count on them to call you back. I would make a chart! |
