most likely not.
i believe the "Firewall" was a feature in service pack 2. it wasn't there in the original Windows XP.

So if you formatted your computer, it means that you got a fresh install of Win XP.
Did you install from a recovery partition or a CD?
MOST XP CDs come with sp2. What other apps have you installed already since you formatted?
Most likely you need to update your auto installer for windows; and before you do anything disable the firewall services by running msconfig in your run command: start> run and reboot.
Try again to install SP3(sp2 not needed as SP3 has all the updates you'll even need) and give your MSN live another shot. This should do. |
