Besides the obvious ones, like Monopoly, what do you like?
I don't think many people seem to play anymore due to "superior" forms of entertainment becoming available, but there's something great about the simpleness and inherent social aspect of board games.
I'm looking forward to some good arguments this weekend over a game of Risk and a few dozen beers. I can't recall any other game ever causing so much angst, and therefore entertainment. We're deserting the city in favour of the beach for a few days and the house has no television, internet or radio.
p.s week-long games of Monopoly as a kid were the best. |

chess.
But generally, im one of those people that think far superior forms of entertainment have come long since then ;)
Computer games are just like board games, without having to fight over the rules, find the missing cards/dice/plastic things and are just as sociable assuming everyone is in the same room :) |

Chess doesn't count, because if it did it would be the best board game ever, hands down. I'm talking kiddie board games. Battle Ships, Mousetrap, Guess Who, Cluedo, Scrabble! Lots of fond childhood memories contained in those names.

No it doesn't. While I'm looking forward to it, the original post also made me realise that we're precariously close to holding Dungeons & Dragons tournaments in our garages each weekend. Thankfully, I haven't ever played that particular game...yet. |

The power was out for a couple nights at my bf's place when we had a big snowstorm...so I went over there and played board games with him and the fam, it was a lot of fun! :D
edit: Risk has ALWAYS ended up in people being pissed off at each other, lol. yeah. |

how to be a corrupt dictator basically lol
Would love to get an ongoing game of Diplomacy going.
As much fun as computer games may be, it'll never equal to (drunken) interaction with real people |
