Uh, why would I like it just because? I'm a huge Watchmen fan, and if anything that will make me more critical when I go in to watch it.

In short, I doubt I'll agree with you.

I doubt anybody would agree with anything Therese says.

He's pretty indifferent. He's a philosophy major, so he enjoyed the philosophical rhetoric and has been pondering a lot of the symbolism etc. He liked that part of the movie.

However, he also agreed with me that that the film wasn't well done and said it left a lot to be desired.

With that being said, including some intelligent theories, some interesting commentary into the film was not the film makers doing... that was taken from the book. That doesn't lend any credence to the quality of the film.

Fair enough...

I would definitely like to hear your review when you have seen it, although now I wonder if you will just say you liked it out of spite to those of us who said you wouldn't. :p

Hey, it's a hit to the pride when you have been arguing about how all of us are idiots for disliking the movie, and to then be able to admit that the movie was crap.

Meh, I guess sitting here trying to argue whether or not the movie is good is a moot point :p You either get it or you don't and that will pretty much determine you're liking of the film.

I don't think it's a matter of "getting it" more than it is a matter of taste. It doesn't take a genius to "get it".

WittyHandle
The whole idea that people are somehow weak for being disappointed at not getting what they were expecting is pretty off. It's completely natural to expect a certain kind of experience based on the trailer you've seen, and then be disappointed if you didn't get what you were expecting. When I'm in the mood for an action flick, I want to see an action flick. When I want to see something deeper, suddenly explosions seem cheap, so give me some complexity and subtlety. I wasn't into Dark Knight when I saw it in the theater, but when I saw it again (and again) at home, I loved it and appreciated it so much more. It's all about how it's advertised. I heard Joel Cohen say when he saw the trailer for Burn After Reading "They made it look like a comedy" when it really wasn't. It comes down to the studio creating the trailer to present the movie in the way that will likely bring the highest sales, and who can blame them. It's just too bad that this will sometimes leave the audience disappointed, when if it were advertised more accurately, they wouldn't be.

No. You either understood the concept and the storyline, or you went in expecting a big-time Hollywood action comic book flick and left disappointed.
