Review: J00F + CL at Guvernment

after a somewhat e night with A&B which smuncky so aptly (and pictorially) described as involving sardines and trash, these guys delivered.

turnout was weak, but it was such a blessing -- i might not have ever had that much space to dance at a big trance show. i'd assume the snowstorm had something to do with it.

saw a bit of MO's set which was basically vocal trance, he didn't really spin up to this style of trance at all which was a shame. as CL tore it up with lots of his psy-almost-hardstyle trance?... I was thinking there's no way joof could jump backward into a deeper proggy set and he certainly did not. he banged away at us for well over 3 hours.

there's not many guys who can do what he does with a set, and the elbow room made it just that much sweeter.

serious win.

The turnout wasn't weak in the least...

It wasn't rammed but comfortable...

And the fact that Mark Skaife showed up saying he'd moved back from England made me very happy...

He said he would start playing very soon....

Can't wait...

Walked in around 12:30 to hear MO spinning some commercial trance garbage. Luckily, it was only for 30 minutes and then CL came on to give us a very solid 2 hours of trance then a well, forgettable last 30. CL was much better than his previous Guv performance with a techy, psyish, uplifting trance set that had many good tracks that were impossible to ID. Some that I noticed...
Vicky Devine-Shape Up (Dan Powers Remix)
Ferry Corsten-Radio Crash
Haris C-My Angel (Club Mix)

J00F came on around 3:30 and gave everyone's ass a kicking for the next 2 and a half hours that we were in that room. I can't say how it ended as my health and energy were not sufficient to last the whole night (been fighting the flu the past week). I hope for those of you who stayed that it was worth while, really wish it was different circumstances but that is what it is. ID's:

0.0db-Magna (opener)
Orkidea - Beautiful (Remix??)
Ace Ventura-The light (Zen Mechanics Remix)
Wizzy Noise-Haiku
Wizzy Noise-Abyss
Therion-O Fortuna (Wizzy Noise Remix)
Vibrasphere-In Control
Vibrasphere-Autumn Lights
Chemical Brothers-Hey Boy, Hey Girl (Remix??)
Sub6-Down & Out
Earthling-Lost in Trance
Jupiter 8000-Inside

Both DJ's performed above their previous performances IMO which is always a good sign. Hope to see both back soon.

P.S. Cheers to everyone who was there, not going to get into names because forgetting people would make me sad.

P.P.S. Special thanks to Shaya, you are the man my friend!

Bummer that I missed this event. I love that about Chris' sets, he always has a selection of amazing tracks that you'll never ID.

Geez, after last weekend's sardine-fest, I had sworn off the Guv main room entirely.

Fleming was world-class. He always plays amazing sets, but this one his best Guvernment set, as the track selection was right up my alley and it flowed perfectly with great direction. 10/10 Guv not busy was an icing on the cake. It was good to see familiar faces, and many girls were sweet and sexy.

wicked time

cl was ok... flemming started off weird, seemed like he had no flow for the first half of his set (still sick tracks), 2nd half was truly mindblowing

so nice that guv isnt packed, wish it was like that every time

last tracks that flemming played were insane.. any ids? especialy that deeply distrubed remix, which is it?

overall i had a great time :D

Best event at the guv for me so far this year! Christopher Lawrence Killed it and JOOF just dropped BOMBS!

Great music and vibe from the DJ booth from CL and J00F all night(loved how CL stuck around for a bit of J00F's set and just observed, bobbing his head to the beats with a smile), but walking through sections of the crowd I felt like I was in the twilight zone - major sketch.

Anyways, I've never left a Fleming set disappointed. This night continued that trend without a doubt.
