Great movie, just didn't like the cheese ending at all.

I completely agree here. This is definitely an Oscar Award winning best picture movie. Performances were great, and the format of the story was refreshingly original and executed nicely.

However, the ending was AWFUL. the lame old hollywood 'it is our destiny' at the end really left a bad superficial taste, accompanied by the music video following. Although the movie is fiction, the poverty of India is not, and the ending allows the viewer to feel, 'awww, everything is alright' when in fact it is not. Personally i thought it could have gone either way at the end, and him not winning the final question could have still created a successful ending.

I also thought the music score category should have been awarded to 'Wall-E' the music in that movie is just fantastic. Thomas Newman did amazing work there. Slumdogs music was passable, but definitely not oscar worthy, since Rahman is Indian himself, i would have liked to hear a much more ethnic indian flavour to the score opposed to the hollywood sound being at the forefront.

the score was garbage...was more Caribbean than anything...of course what do u expect when u have a Sri-lankan (M.I.A) muttering gibberish in it?

well its just proof that the music (score) category can't be taken seriously at the oscars. Its been like that for a long time too. John Williams has been robbed so many times. - two notible examples are his scores for 'memoirs of a geisha' -movie aside, the music is astounding. and also 'the patriot.' Babel beating memoirs was just ludicrous, especially with its best song 'Bibo No Aozora' being written by Ryuichi Sakamoto

thats why i don't bother watching the oscars and just take a glance at the winners for kicks. But i hate how many categories are just labeled 'throwaway' to whatever movie is doing good that year to add up the numbers, without really recognizing the most outstanding talent of that year.

Slumdog is an English movie based in India, please stop calling it Bollywood.

That is all.

+1 :whip:

btw the 'cheesy' ending had to be that way to connect the whole plot. one brother takes the easy way to wealth thru violence, immorality etc and in the end drowns in the blood of his wealth, while the other takes the long way and is persistent till the end when he finally gets it all (girl + money).

also i think the beginning was one of the best scenes in the movie esp if u watch it on a big screen - the music goes so well with the events taking place.

did you like the ending?
kaniz
I loved the ending of The Wrestler.

It would of been so easy for them to go 100% cheese with the ending - it had all the build up to be a groan-inducing ending, but instead it left you hanging with more questions than answers and increased the impact of it 10x.

i agree, but i feel he didn't fight enough for what was important in life, he only fought for his. no pun intended.

He faught for what he knew, not what was right.

i agree with kaniz, at first i was pissed that it ended that way but now i realize that anything past that could have been potentially cheesy
