Anybody going to Dirty South at the Vanguard? (pg. 3)

heard it was sold out, wow!
did dirty south come out with a new song or something? they spun at avalon, etc but dont pull as well as last saturday...just wondering. |

| It might have to do with the fact that Giant Saturdays there almost specifically cater to the Dirty South type of crowd. |

meaning? big time remixers who are easily found mainstream will gather a larger following than underground acts. he was at avalon with lee burridge last year, venue shouldnt matter if people go to see the artist.
do people in la go to venues as opposed to the artist?
that would be a shame, bc carl cox is at avalon this weekend! |

yes... people in LA go to venues as opposed to artists. thats why all these new "A-list" type clubs are so popular. Vanguard also has sub-promoters that market to that type of crowd. |

| As Giant's former Promo Director...I'm baffled by this one. We're talking a David Guetta kinda sell out it sounds like. Only time Vanguard has sell out nights like that is for the obvious big names...Armin, Sasha, etc...combo nights like Zabs & Deadmau5, J00F & CL or the more commercially know djs like Bob Sinclar (all though Bob's popularity still baffles me too) and Guetta. Just had Dirty for NYE...he didn't create much of a buzz for that. From the pics it doesn't look like a commercial crowd. This is a funny one. |
