Mr Jason Midro ...

Just wondering how he is perceived amongst the general trance public, I'd heard him a few times at Bubble in Melb and it seemed he knew exactly what the crowd wanted.

But my respect for him has elevated to a whole new level after witnessing his set at Slinky over the weekend. He seems to have the knack of adapting to what ever crowd he spins for and believe me and he did not disappoint. He dropped the following three tracks consecutively (personally, I haven't experienced a greater succession of tracks spun): Gamemaster followed by Miss Shiva Dreams and chased it up with Art of Trance - Madagascar. To me that's classic trance heaven. :tongue2

What are your guys views on this great Aussie battler?

HAHAHAHAHA only thing he's good at is wetting his bed in a k-hole

he is a cheese dick

uhh ok, not quite the responses i anticipated.

Are you guys gonna give any reasons or just feel your witty one-liners are sufficient enough? :o

Here's a bet another beaut of a comment is posted.

Well I haven't seen him perform live yet but I like the Hard NRG cds so I suppose he gets a thumbs up from me.

although midro is capable of throwing in an old classic trance track his sets consist of really cheesy hard trance(he sometimes plays decent dumonde stuff) some of u might like this stuff..but i dont...i do not have an understanding of this sort of music..it is lame....the melodies are lame..and the basslines are stupid

r.i.p "power trance"

Yeah, Nu-NRG seems to me like the sort of stuff that would have sounded cool about 7 years ago, but it just sounds dated imho (which might explain why Midro keeps on playing Madagascar).

To dance to at a club, yeah it's better than r'n'b I guess, but how anyone can listen to it outside of that environment is beyond me.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I went to Hard Kandy about 3-4 weeks ago for the first time. Wasn't sure what to expect, but even though the music wasn't really my thing, I suprised myself and enjoyed it..... but do they have to try and play 140+ bpm e that no-one can dance to without looking like an epileptic turkey?

Where is this post going?

amen brother stipsy!

he plays garbage and the only person who thinks he's good is himself:haha: . i think ppl who went to advent*jah last dec/nov will testify to that.

I heard him on nye in melb and i didn't mind his set. He surely couldn't be any worse than the crap that nik fish, bexta, jumping jack and co roll out every weekend in sydney.

I wouldn't worry too much michael people on here are pretty particular about what they like and what they don't. Since no-one in sydney has played madagascar etc i still don't mind hearing it even if it is old, i don't buy the latest vinyl so whats new and old means nothing to me. And to be honest i always loved miss shiva and could count on one hand the amount of times ive heard it out. (Highlight scott project playing it at earthcore last year under the stars. Wow!)
You can gets lots of ideas from this site though about what to look for, i've been educated since ive beed here for sure.

Last thing if you enjoy it mate thats all that matters.:)
MichaelDudikoff
thanks guys, that's more what I was lookin' for.

I didn't wanna come off sounding like a sour lemon, but I just wanted to see why people felt this way about him. It's fair enough you can state what you think with a throw-away comment but it doesn't help guys like me who are a bit wet behind the ears and have no idea why things are the way they are.

Appreciated the views nevertheless, I think I overestimated the nostalgic power of the mentioned tunes and for some people there is no better time than the present. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely loving Solar Coaster and Co but so I don't lose track of my roots, I will continue to spin the Pearl Shakers and the Carte Blanches. ;)

Jah
hey hey hey diss the man all you want but did i hear somene give madagascar up there... :P
Renegade
No, no, Madgascar's cool, but after 4 years (or whatever) it loses its edge. I'd rather go out and here a DJ spin a sets worth of new stuff, rather than a set full of I've heard a thousand times before - as anyone who's ever been to a commercial club in their lives will agree with (Skydive = most overplayed "decent" track in history).

PS: Wasn't Midro meant to play a live set in Sanity Bourke St. recently? Is that a choice gig or something?
