On a related subject, I noticed among people I know how they adapt their musical preference to their social status, and especially to what they want to be. This led me to believe that one of the strongest influence on someones taste is the way he sees himself / wants to be. People who want to be seen as intelligent will not only claim to like Beethoven, they'll indeed start to enjoy his music. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see any classical composers other than Beethoven on the list. That's kind of odd: I would have at least expected Mozart and Bach to be on there. Given the additional fact that Beethoven is ridiculously far to the right, I have to suspect that the survey was simply really small and it happened to catch a few bright people who said they liked Beethoven.
The way to weed out the status-seekers among classical music fans is to ask them if they like any composers that aren't on every single "greatest hits" classical compilation ever made (Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Vivaldi, Handel, Chopin).

Nah, I love Chopin and the other guys on that list. Beethoven is actually my personal favorite, LOL. |

| Also not to forget the fact that some genres such as Emo and Trance score high on E.Q. |

I don't think musical taste is a very good gauge of intelligence, actually. ;) |
