Have you read the graphic novel? And if so, is it faithful to it's source?

OMG this movie is, wait for it, pretty much TERRIBLE.

A few visually pleasing aspects/scenes (e.g. fight sequences, Dr. Manhattan's look, interesting camera angles, the female actress' attractiveness,) are the only good thing about it.

The movie is unnecessarily long (and I mean WAY too long) and overly complicated.

There were so many scenes where I was thinking to myself "Is this actually happening?! Are the characters really saying/doing these things? How can anybody think this would be a good idea to shoot?!".

I have never read the graphic novel but I went with a good friend who has and really likes the story. He says the movie nailed almost every detail in the novel. However, like me, he was thoroughly disappointed with the movie. I heard others at the theatre chatting, and one consensus seems to revolve around the (inevitable?) futility of trying to squeeze every aspect of a twelve-book series into one movie.

I am thoroughly surprised by the fact that what I saw last night is the movie about which so much hyped currently exists.

300 is by far a superior movie.

short and sweet: Great adaptation. didn't live up to novel but remember: has a film ever surpassed its novel? (maybe, but I've yet to see.) Lovely violence, solid characters (JEH was tremendous), fine acting near enough all round and probably the best movie of 2009 so far.

only problems were that some of the making of scenes you may have saw on youtube haven't made the cinematic cut, didn't care much for soundtrack (some good songs but they didn't fit mood)

I will point out, however, that it has probably one of the greatest introductions i have EVER seen.

Overall, brilliant :)

No! How can you say this Nick? 300 is a two hour music video with shirtless guys yelling and beating their chests.

Nick, you need to read the book and re-review. I read that the movie is supposed to cater more towards the fans who have read the source, leaving guys like you watching the movie for the first time, clueless.

Hahah, "graphic novel."

It's a comic book.

And no, I haven't read it.

My take on the movie is that the first 75% of it was about jack , basically plotless, then they tie everything up in the last 25% of it, really quickly. Everything is presented to you in a manner that makes you feel like an idiot.

If your going to comment on the movie and give it negative reviews...at least come up with some better arguments than it was too long...:stongue:

Heh, that which I stated is basically all I found wrong with it. Entertaining, but definitely not a blockbuster of any sort.

Oh also, Laurie Jupiter is a stone cold fox.

I was really amazed by how they did the introduction. The fight sequence, sound effects, angles, and lighting was all perfect. Brilliantly done.

I've read half of the comic book issues, and this movie follows really closely with the comics.

All of Rorschach's journey entry was word for word. I would probably say 90% of the dialogue was exactly the same as the comic. The movie did seem a tad long at times though, running at 160 minutes.

Anyone that actually read the comic books would enjoy the accuracy and how the director interpreted some of the scenes.
