I honestly don't like the song in that DC-10 video at all.

Post of the thread. The crowd goes absolutely bat insane, and here are some things worth pointing out:

1.) She stands there like a rock, never raising her arms nor striking a pose.
2.) She's not doing anything fancy. The record is playing, that's it.
3.) They lost it to the MUSIC.

Nothing more, nothing less. That is a DJ, that is an artist. Not some chump with a Wii controller.

lol getting worked up about techno :p

Well, the sound quality is pretty in the video...but that's one of the things that makes a DJ. You listen to that track now and think it's pretty , but you hear it in the context of a DJ's set and it blows your ing mind.

It's happened a lot of times before, and specially with minimal.

I agree, I've enjoyed a lot of the Magda sets I've heard, I just think the track in the video lacks spirit or something, I dunno.

:smacks forehead:

its not about me. this is about alternative forms of djing, richie hawtin does it, i can think of maybe one other person, and thats it. instead people just want to point out in the video how the music being used isnt good enough for them or the guy is an because he stands on the speaker, and then comes the 1,000,000 example youtube videos of various mini tech house djs that use a standard mixer making people fist pump at 7am.

my opinion of the original vid is ... its decent, nothing amazing, but needs work, however, its a start. atleast its a start in a new direction perhaps? i posted the vid because ive never seen a wireless controller that was used in a way that made an obvious change in the music. the only thing ive seen before is like what rebel9 posted, where the guy moves his hand around and not much difference happens. even when i saw crazy lary at wmc, it wasn't obvious to the listener what he was changing with his wii remote ... he would move his hand around and barely anything would change in the set.

I hate it. But she's one of those DJs who plays music I don't like in such a way that I can enjoy it. Plus she does play a lot of good music...

enydo
I want to see her live.

Well, you're the one that brought up the "rocking the crowd" subject into the thread. You even made fun of Bas because according to you, he can't "rock the crowd" with his "boring music" and doesn't have a world tour consisting of acting like a moron in 4 different continents a week.

Anyways, the point is that you seem to think that this is the "future" of DJing and feel the need to trash "standard mixers" and even dare to compare a true pioneer like Richie Hawtin with this no-name wanker. Given, some of Richie's music might be boring and lacks soul, but the guy is at the front of the pack of DJs embracing new, and RELEVANT technology. , everybody began to jump on Traktor the minute he announced his switch.

Don't you realize that not one single DJ that respects himself and the crowd that goes to listen to him (or her) is going to be caught standing on speakers, strolling around the stage like an idiot, waving a ing video game controller in the air, demanding the crowd to worship him?

This is NOT going to catch on. Deal with it.
