Hey all, I'm in a 500 level Game Design class at my University and we have to design a game from scratch. Basically, you're a guy, you have a gun, and you run around in a 2D level and shoot things. You get power ups, and the concept is going to be slightly more puzzle oriented than shoot-em-up.
I have a few questions for you:
1) What genre of EDM (i'm excluding all forms of trance, even tho it's my favorite) would be most appropriate to use for background music, boss music, etc? I'm considering progressive psy or minimal techno for bg music.
2) What artists would you advise for your recommended genre?
3) Does anyone know of any websites for good random sound effects, lasers, video game gun shots, explosions, voices, etc etc. ? |

| I don't think any kind of psy would fit well unless that's the theme of your game. Too distracting. Minimal techno might work but it might be a bit... well, minimal for a soundtrack. |

| I consider progressive psy to be a little more refined and interesting than house music, so while repetition may be very necessary, I don't want it to get too boring. Besides, the game isn't that complicated to where simple progressive psy would distract the player. |

I am enjoying this Qbical - Level Six (Giash & Fourbit Remix), this is exactly the kind of stuff that would be good. Simple, repetitive and interesting, but not pounding and distracting.
Any more like this? |

| I say Gui Boratto would fit perfectly, but that's just my two cents. |

Oops, sorry, must be a bit tired from work, also misunderstood the 2D for 3D. Will deleted my post for you.
In Germany warehouses probably will stop selling shooter games because of recent tragedy. |
