Roland D-50 for me.
Shocking to see how old it is. The atmospheric effects are really what hooked me. |

| Jp8000= its the only synth that I want anymore. I am happy with my setup, except for not having that. I don't want the hassle of the hardware, I would like a replica vst for it. I know there are some that try, and I have tried them all, or most, but, to my ears they don't even sound close. I wish d16 would make one, they are good at emulating old Roland gear. |

Neither of those synths are analog. The D-50 was a pretty awesome synth in its day (still is IMO), but it used PCM synthesis, which essentially made it a glorified rompler, and LAS synthesis, which was similar to analog modeling as we know it today. The JP-80X0 was, of course, an analog modeling synth. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's important to remember that hardware <> analog. |

| Oh, and BTW, my vote would go to the Dave Smith Evolver series, which are analog-digital hybrids. I don't know of any software emulations of those synths. Absynth is probably the most similar. |
