Yup this thread was gonna get started but I figured WMC has already started...
My buddy text me this morning said he got his digital camera and DJ headphones jacked from his checked luggage so all u peeps keep you valuables on you or in your carry on. Times are tough and there are lots of thieves!! |

| Well mine's already started and I'm not even there yet. I got sick last week, which resulted in an ear infection. My ear drum ruptured yesterday. I didn't think I was even going to be able to fly until today when I got the OK from the doctor. I have to cut out a lot of my events, especially the louder indoor ones. :( I have ear plugs, but I dont know how well they are going to work. |

my friends rented a condo via Craigslist...put down like $2500 or $3000, and find out its a scam! the guy just posts adds on the vacation rental part of craiglist, has you send him the $, he sends you a contract and disappears with your $$$.
they just had to pay another $3K to get a 2br condo! :whip: |

Positive thoughts!
I'm sure most peeps that are staying in South Beach under 4 stars will realize that their place is a roach motel and that their mattress has bed bugs. |

no - by check. the renter said he 'accidently' double booked the place but said he didn't have their $ to give back...then he stopped returning their phone calls. and somehow they found out some other people had the same thing happen with the same guy.
they already went to the police station today to file a police report....they have the guy's address and other info...who knows they may eventually get their $ back...
even if they get their $ back down the road, its a totally sucky way to start the conference. |

a check is cash. really sucks for them, but never, never pay with cash... only credit cards. |

i know what you are saying but when you rent vacation homes from private owners, a very large % take checks only.... |

ahh ok. the one we rented last year took CC and paypal. i hope your friends get their money back and dont let it ruin their trip. |

yeah - the one i rented last year took paypal...but i was still a bit worried until i had the room key in hand :)
anyway, i'm sure they will party their ass-off while here and not let it stress them too much. ... |
