no, it hasn't come out yet! try to keep up snail! :p it wont be running on tv til 2010, this is the pilot which we buy and that gives the studios impetus to ensure good funding and continued project :)

Haha, great. Though I have to admit, having 2/3 of humanity taken over at the end of 2.5 has a lot of possibilities... |
the first 4 eps of season 3 are pretty damn awesome imo. it just sags in the middle. still some great individual episodes, they just didnt add much to the plot unfortunately.

Yeah, but it didn't last long and didn't seem to be based on much. The "battle" between Roslyn and the military in Season One was more interesting. |
whoa whoa- what about adama's (the ultimate lawful good character) temptation by assassination? yummy! not to mention that horrible rape scene. poor sharon. i would travel across the universe to rescue her!

And I have no idea what B5 is... I'm kind of a sci fi noob - I prefer my television to be written by Aaron Sorkin. |
babylon 5. basically B5 was the very first television show to introduce the 'novel for television' format. every show that features a plot arc owes a great debt to B5.
the similarities between B5 and BSG are striking, however BSG has far higher production values and overall a more complete package (it is 10 years newer after all). if youre ever bored with your philosophers et al, check it out. it takes at least a season before it really hits its stride though. on a plus note, lots of politics! ;) |

well, perhaps i wasn't clear. the series is scheduled for 2010, this pilot episode will screen sometime this year, and ratings and DVD purchases are pretty important if you wanna see more, like anything after the first season. i know DVD sales play a pretty big part in helping shows that might not be showing huge amounts of viewers (ie BSG).
almost all tv series' (especially scifi) start off with a pilot.
so, if ratings are average but DVD sales are good, the series is more likely to continue. |

Babylon 5 has much deeper characters/much better story (and flow to it). |

oh, i lied too. there doesn't seem to be much scifi asides from the whole building-the-cylon angle. |

BTW if anyone wants a really good sci-fi political drama then Legend of the Galactic Heroes is really good. |
