James Zabiela's mixing

I came across an amazing set from James Zabiela today, which piqued my curiosity. I've been a fan for a while and I think he's brilliant, but I don't mix or produce, so I can't really tell when someone has good technique. So I was wondering, is he really as exceptionally awesome at mixing as he seems to be?

Yeah, he's pretty good. Which set? And possible link?

hes pretty nutso (thats good)

sometimes feel he can over-do the stunts and loses the groove on the dancefloor at times (although i havent seen him in about 2 years so it may have changed)...

last time i saw him PLay a versus with phil k - both are amazing with the tricks - there were about 20 g33ks up the front (me being one) watching in awe - however the dancefloor was as lost as those guys in the plane crash on the island

It seems he learnt a lot off Nic Fanciulli in their One+One collab as he doesn't overdo the crazy stuff anymore. He's definitely gotten better

Agreed, not digging a lot of the stuff he plays anymore. Technically he's still great ;)

Technically speaking he's one of the best out there IMO. But like the others said, he's not playing as much good music as he used to.

I saw him at the start of 2008 and thought he was technically top notch and all the scratching and stuff he did really added to the tunes.

It's a shame to see the musical 'road' he's taken. Considered him one of my favorites only a little over a year ago. Now, I don't really care for his sound at all.

Technically though, there are few that can match him.

+1.

I saw him playing live here in Italy, he was damn crazy by using those CDJs 1000 players! But... I still prefer people with crazy technique on Turntables and vinyls..
