What is the capacity of Oslo? Do you really think it's going to be that packed? |
If I had to wager a guess, capacity at Oslo is sardine-canned at around 175 people, maybe less.
I'd love to see Cassy and Eric but you can count me out of this one. The heat there is unbearable. It ruined my night last time.
It's in a basement, and the only ventilation (no hyperbole here) is two tiny vents, about a square foot in size each, over the bar area.
Mind you, the bar area is divided from the booth/dancefloor area by a big solid wall. When I was there last year, they also only had sound in the dancefloor area. So if you wanted to hear the music at all you had to brave the 110 degree heat.
I can't deal with that kind of BS. It really should be illegal to hold events in environments like that. |

Ugh, doesn't sound quite so appealing anymore. |

The whole point of Oslo is that it's a ing dungeon. It's hot, sweaty, the people are ed up. You don't go to Detroit for models and bottles, you got for basement crack fests. Oslo's weaknesses are inherently great. You are right, there's no A/C, the system isn't that good, the place will be packed... and I personally wouldn't have it any other way.
Listen to Bruno or Landsky recoded @ Temp Tattos last year... the music speaks for itself. |

| Yeah, Oslo is hot tranny mess...but I love it. It's worth madness I think. Hopefully there are no gang shootings outside this year...sucks they had to close early last year because someone felt the need to cap a fool. |

I'm all for grimy dungeons, but when the heat level becomes a concern to my health, that is ing retarded. I had a great time at Bert's On Broadway, which most of my friends described as a "crack den," none of whom described Oslo that way. It was hot there too, but not nearly to the level of Oslo.
I would not call it inherently great when it hampers you having a good time. Last year I could not enjoy the music at all because I couldn't stand being in the one room where the music actually was because it was too ing hot. Having a place be crappy for the sake of being crappy is just as stupid as having a place be VIP for the sake of being VIP. I want to be able to enjoy myself at a party, and I for one, can't do that when I'm shedding pounds of weight in sweat and can barely breath because the air feels more like a solid than a gas. Just add a goddamn fan or two in there at least. That is not going to take away from the "atmosphere" of it being down and dirty.
Also, there is never an excuse for ty sound anywhere, imo. You can have the crackiest crack house ever, but there should always be good sound at a techno party. You are THERE for the sound ffs (or at least you should be). |

| If you are claustrophobic in the least don't go to Oslo. The layout and sound is terrible. TV bar is a good spot. |

| Nice! I'm going to have to see Tim, Camea, and Jamie Jones for sure. |

edit:
oops, this is probably the same as VOLATL
You should take Tim & Camea off the TBA list for 5/23... that would be the Clink portion of the VOLATL party
Also, cost for House-n-Home is $20 |
