Here I said it all !! Detailed reasons why every EDM fan HATES Opera..

Well I am not much of a "negative" poster but I am surpised no-one had bad things to say about that whole experience...I don't know whether Armin, Liquified, or Opera is to blame...but I suspect a combination of all three...Let me explain before people try to defend their beloved Armin.

1. Armin - If you had any idea how much he got paid that night it would absolutely make your head spin. I caught wind of it from some people who had those connections and let's just say it is more than alot of entire families make in a year. That is absolutely disgusting. NOW you know why those of you who decided to wait and pay at the door got charged $60. Although I did hear some paid only $50. I guess if you look "cool enough" or of the right sex Opera alters their prices or the door guys decided to not take their tip off the top.

2. Opera - The Nazis (I mean er employees) act like they are the Gestapo. I am pretty sure they have close to the power that our Congress does because they sure act like it. Herding the sheeple through as they decide - shining flashlights everywhere looking for any reason to make you a "criminal". You can't stand here, you can't walk here. If you went to another room to grab a drink, they would not let you back in until the room Nazi decided it was ok, even though you paid your sixty dollars (I am fully aware that ticket prices go up closer to the day of show so I do not need to know that. Point is that there were people there that paid sixty bucks and were held in other rooms for extended periods of time while the dj they paid that money for was playing their favorite track.)....

3. Liquified - Look I don't need you to defend yourself because I fully realize that there are more intimate nights like Acosta Friday at a smaller venue and that Armin is a big dj that many people want to see. But the amount of people in that place was just absolutely beyond reason. If you come out to see a dj like Armin people hope/expect the night to be at a capacity where it is enjoyable. I do not know if the capacity of that building was oversold, but you could not move without some person ramming into you every 3 seconds and 5 persons arm or back sweat on you within a ten second period. I ask you "How is this enjoyable?" Is it greed on your part too? Cram as many heads in there so Armin, Liquified, and Opera can bankroll at the expense of the fans? The majority of the people that are even fans had their tickets far in advance...And we could not even enjoy the night or move in the humid sauna because the 18 year old hip hops fan heard it was "cool" and gonna be packed and bought their tickets last minute to take up space and ruin the time of all the EDM fans. Oh and if you wanted to walk upstairs to breathe it was $50 a person. So, I spent like 90% of my night outside listening to Armin's set through the tiny speakers just to keep my sanity.

There are many who have been disenfranchised with the whole Opera experience, and I have just taken it for what it was and rolled with it. But there comes a point where too much is too much. When you can't have a good time for what should be such an amazing night because of all of the aforementioned factors, that time has come where it is too much. There are very few shows I have missed over the last 4 years since I moved to Atlanta. But at this point, I do not intend to go to any more shows at the "Sweatbox" and play bumper cars, Nazi guard-Jewish prisoner, or give my funds to the Bernie Madoffs. May go to Rank 1 just because it is Rank 1 and I don't have a choice of venue. But my desire to go to the other shows at Opera are far outweighed by the negative factors which concurrently move to destroy the euphoric experience.

Welcome aboard :)

I doubt Rank 1 will be crowded, but I really don't see how any one enjoys anything at that venue anymore. I've only gone for Digweed after my bad experience, and that's it.

true on the low turn out for Rank one, I am going but your not going to see a large under 18 crowd for this. Mainly old school peeps. Would have likened a better venue for Rank but isn't that always the case with the venue formally known as axis.

Welcome aboard indeed.

I'm really hoping Markus doesn't actually draw a crowd. I love him, I want him to know he's appreciated here, but I do not want to have to spend my night outside (just like you!) just to be able to breathe while listening to the music which is the sole reason I go to these events.

If it wasn't for the fact that I have a man crush on Markus Schulz, Armin would've been my last event.

Rank 1 and ATB are in the danger zone of getting dropped just because I do not think I ever want to step in Opera again after Markus. How my night goes in 3 weeks will greatly affect if I ever go to Opera again or any event for that matter.

I'm only 23, and as cliche as it is, I really am getting too old for this .

You really shouldn't blame Armin or Liquified by the way. Does Armin get paid a lot more than he should? Ya. But that's supply and demand my friend. Opera is the problem though. They oversell capacity for these, they raise the price from $50 to $60 randomly, they overcharge for drinks, their staff are the s.

DJs to stay away from:

Armin van Buuren
Tiesto
Paul van Dyk

Just a head's up. Do not ever see these DJs if you want to be able to actually move around and dance to the music...let alone breathe. They get so many fake fans. I really wish they would make it a requirement to actually name a song these guys have produced to get entrance.

love that! i just saw markus last night here in charlotte, and it was nowhere near crowded. plenty of room to dance and the crowd that was there was a great one! i don't think markus gets as much respect as he deserves...but then again, maybe the 'fake' fans stay away, making it a more enojoyable experience for us real fans!

What? What if they just want to go to have fun.... Who cares who goes and for what reasons man

They don't really go to have fun though is my whole point...they go to hit on the 18 year old girls or to be hit on by random guys and bought drinks and just to say "I went to this trance show the other night!"

Their money and all. But really...they don't go to have fun. At least it doesn't look like it.

I'm talking about the groups and groups of people who just keep walking around looking all judgmental and condescending about those of us who are actually enjoying the music.

The few times I've been sober and in reality at these things...I've really noticed these people. At Armin and Tiesto and Paul van Dyk anyways.

Maybe not to listen to edm but to go clubbing in general.

And before you or someone else chimes in with "that's their way of having fun" - don't. You know what I mean.

Those people just make it so crowded and they are obviously not there to listen to the music. That's my whole point. I'm sure they have fun coming out and doing whatever it is they do walking around shoving people out of their way and giving us dirty looks. But they're clearly not their having fun listening to the music.

Edit:

And I was too late.

You went ahead and made the dumb retort that I knew you would make. ugh.

iammesol
Not really dumb. They paid $60 to drink with their friends at a show. Isn't this America?
trancension
It's dumb because he knew what I meant, but is trying to play devil's advocate.
