You have to solve whatever it is that is causing your insomnia.
If you're good at psychoanalyzing yourself then really think about it and find ways to work around what causes you stress - or try to learn to cope with it if it's something unavoidable.
Acceptance therapy
or just let yourself get drunk once in a while
For me, a few drinks = nice relaxation = awesome sleep
PS. Meat - naps are NOT for old ppl and kids. Naps are AMAZING at any age :o |

I don't know. I've never felt the need to sleep during the day, except when I didn't get enough during the night. Your body isn't even able to sleep well during the day (it feels the sunlight and decides that it's not the right time to regenerate) which might explain why some posters feel strange after taking a nap. So for me sleeping during the day means there's something wrong.

+1 on this. Everybody has a stressful life, but only some of those can't sleep because of it. Means the other part has found a way to deal with stress and still have some healthy sleep. |

I had a wank during sleep & then woke up to the sounds of a lady screaming!! She was screaming: "what is going on with the world, I did not know that s where going to post so much " and then she started screaming "who really gives a if you get any sleep or not, I'm sure no one cares. Go and bye a gun, you can kill people in america with guns, guns are great, yay for guns". She obviously needs more sleep... and then she said: "Im orgasming with an octopus up my bum" yay for communism |

| It takes forever for me to fall asleep anymore :( Pot sometimes can help if I have been smoking it for hours on end and drinking, but when I'm sober, It's tough. For some reason, mornings/daylight makes me tired, lol. I can toss and turn all night and be wide awake, but when the sun comes up, then I get tired and can fall asleep. Guess I'm a vampire. My GF pisses me off...this girl can sleep anywhere and takes her no more than 5 minutes :whip: |

I get caught in the cycle. I've always been a night person, and usually do work on my computer late at night when it's quiet, as I did all throughout school studying and doing my work late at night when there were no distractions. Then I have to get up earlier than I want for work. In the afternoons when I get home usually, I'm tired as hell from 4 or 5 hours of sleep, and take a nap.... then I wake up and I'm all rejuvinated and can't go to bed until really late again.
Every few weeks, I'll feel like from the cycle's wearing effects and go to bed at like 8 or 9, wake up fresh in the morning, then proceed to start the same cycle over again. |

I've developed something of a dependency to sleeping with a DVD on, which creates difficulty in me not only falling asleep, but attaining a minimum level of quality sleep. It seems I need to sleep a lot longer when the TV is on in order to wake up feeling semi-decent than when it's off.
I recognize this, and tried turning the damn thing off, but am just left with this eerie silence in its absence; there's just nothing like that warm, inviting glow. I think I'll just start setting the timer.
By the way, anyone doing the same thing should pick their DVD's carefully; Fight Club- WORST DVD TO FALL ASLEEP TO, as anyone who knows what that jarring menu screen sounds like can attest to. |
...then i decieded to just watch DVD's until i fell asleep and that bumbed me up to like 5-6 hours a night. so for me watching DVD's until i fall asleep is helping haha |

last year when i was on night shifts (11pm-7am) i would stay up on my nights off, while others would revert back to a "day" schedule....man it ed them up pretty bad.
once i'm in a sleep routine, i prefer to stay in it.
i'm working lates right now (noon - ?) and i like it because i come home from work and stay up late, then sleeep in :) |

I used to have issues sleeping but lately I've just been so overwhelmed with everything that's going on in my life, the second I sit down for 2 minutes I'm dozing off. It's great.
So just sign yourself up for a bunch of and work really, extra hard at work and you too can join in on my sleeping habits. |

No, 70 year olds (and little kids) are the only ones who take naps during the day. :p |
i dont take naps during the day, i work. i was talking about on the weekends sometimes. i get up kinda early on saturdays naturally and also because i don't like to waste my day off. but usually later on around 3 or so if i'm home and not doing anything, i get really tired and want to take a nap and i can't. |
