When I've travelled, that's one of the things I seem to notice. Americans often like to be shown around or stick to the beaten track, while other nationalities just tend to go out and look. You shouldn't be afraid of exploring a foreign country, no more than just going for a walk anywhere in America and seeing what's around the corner. Discovering things for yourself is part of the joy of travel.

Don't believe it. I feel a real affinity with Fiji. I've been there around 15+ times and sort of consider it my adopted country. We have some friends there and correspond with them fairly regularly. I read Sitiveni Rabuka's book some years ago and I've been in the country during the times of unrest. They have a very respectful attitude for tourists and rarely does anything bad happen to foreigners. The problems usually only occur in the capital of Suva, and the airport is in Nadi, which is on the other side of the main island.

Thats my family's place up in Maine, everything in that frame is ours. Its like a 45 minute drive to the nearest grocery story, and thats the way I like it. No cell phone service, no internet, no TV. ing heaven :)

Took the words out of my mouth. Maine is abso-in gorgeous. Also the White Mountains in NH. I've been up there twice, both times a week-long stay and absolutely loved it. :p |

I like to do at least one major trip a year mixed in with random weekend getaways.
I just came back from Toronto. I'm flying to Tampa (to visit my grandmother) two weekends from now. Also doing Boston/Detroit memorial day weekend.
I plan on going to Europe for 2 weeks in November as my major trip. |
