alright, guess I'm leaning more Vaio since I could probably swing it.

I also looked into Acers, but their website is unbearably convoluted :/

If you don't mind the aesthetic, Lenovos are worth a look. They're modeled off the old IBM Thinkpads, but include some neat features like eyeball scanning instead of passwords.

Well, as my roommate pointed out, the facial recognition software on the Lenovo could easily be adapted to only accept a scan of a bare ass or something. So... I think "how soon" is now.

It's a one year old lightly used laptop that's been upgraded and has somewhat better specs than the 1200 macbook out now.

what about a Vaio SR? im thinking of getting that one and you can get it fully loaded for about 1300-1500 which is nice

That's getting a bit pricey for me. I've got 1100 tops I can sink into this.

then i think the studio 15/xps is your best choice, dells are nice machines.. I currently own a vostro 1500 and a latitude d630 and I never had any problems with them
