So far the only thing I find that I can drink without cringing is champagne...and that is expensive. |
I'm not totally keen on it but can deal with a glass worth every now & then. I find that the liqueurs rock because they're so fruity. It's like cherry with a warming kick at the end, peach which is sharp & cuts through, lemon which is strikingly awesome etc. Also a big fan of the local apertif in the canary islands, a honey rum served in a glass which has come out of the freezer with a big ice cube in. It's just sublime and best enjoyed in just 1 or 2 shots than lots of it. |

Oh same here, that is, physically I'll recover from one drink in about 30-40 minutes, but mentally it takes a while longer. When I can't do basic integrals without any ups...well, I don't drink much. |
Never had problems with the physical and mental catch-ups. I have been a few times drunk enough to get a hang-over. My first time ever drunk and hung-over was in Finland when I was 18. I had two bottles of cheap red Chilean wine to myself in the span of about two hours. :wtf: |

Thats another thing, I also rarely drink when I go out. I am drunk perhaps once or twice a year. At bars I drink water or pineapple juice.
I was out for almost 8 hours last night at a club, completely sober; my friends wondered how I do it and sometimes I wonder how I do it too... |
I wish I had more friends like you. All mine want to do is get wasted to the point of blackout. None of them are younger than 25 and act like they are 18 when it comes to drinking. |

I'm curious as to what references fall within the domain of 'other.'
Anwyay, I suppose it makes perfect sense to describe soft drinks as soda or pop in the general sense, but the fact that 'Coke' is used in the same way is somewhat bizarre.
Imagine what it's like stocking sodas at the local market.
'Hey, we need more Cokes!' |
As a southerner who stocks soda at the local market, I have to say it's bull. "Coke" is only used when talking about a non-specific cola drink.
Most people will ask for a coke at taco bell will be asked "is pepsi ok?" and they'll say "yea whatever"
I've never heard someone call a non-cola drink a coke. |
