1. That's why I said move the line to get into the club. I say kil coat check and make that a smoking room if possible.... or is that actually a part of the building next door. LIke there are steps up into it to the right of ruby's entrance. Could open the doors (if it's ruby owned), seal off a part of that room so smoke can't travel back, and have that be a smoking room...and it's tile and hard walls so the smell of cigs won't stick)
Anyhow, with being able to smoke inside at clubs/bars...
2. I do believe there were laws to get around being able to smoke inside a venue in some ways. And you could smoke inside places if it was family owned & operated. But I think that was killed last year and you can't do this anymore.... but maybe it just requires a special permit. 1015's smoking room upstairs is atrocious becasue you can smell it everywhere up there. :p
3. A club AWAYS must find a way to have a smoking area. It's such an important part for a ot of people when it comes to going out, having a good time, and taking a break to relax. I can tell you right now there are those people out there that will decide other places over ruby because they can't smoke anywhere (not directed at ruby, just saying in general. :p) |

| This has been bugging me for a while but who is that short asian petite woman that always walks around in her black coat. I always thought she was the club manager or owner. she seems to be in charge most of the time, telling the bouncers what to do and I see her all over the club. |

| So there are no ins and outs even if you ARE over 21? Lots of places that are all ages give people over 21 a stamp or wristband and allow it, like Slim's. Great DJs, but GROAN... |

That would be Jess. And as you basically guess it, she's is indeed manager at Ruby.
She's really cool. Just ask Bjorn! :p |

Different rules apply to Slims, because they have a Type 47 permit, which is a permit for an All Ages venue that serves food. Ruby Skye most likely has a Type 48 (21+ w/ Bar) permit and something else with it that let's them do events in certain ways if it's controlled in a certain way. Not sure though. Anyhow, Slims having that permit is why the ABC is also going after them at the moment trying to force at least half of all sales to be food sales, because even with that permit they operate more as a club...though there's no law saying that you have to a have a specific amount of food sales with that permit.
You can read more about it: here. |
