MPlayer sucks for straight audio. Good for video, but needs some work in a few areas. Get Songbird. |
Songbird has potential but is far too bloated and has UI issues. It took them forever to leave beta, from what I've used it for, it seems like iTunes done right. The biggest problem with Songbird is managing massive music collections (15k+) |

Originally it had a problem with my massive collection. I quit using it (this was when it was .2) because of this. I was going to install it again and see how it faired. It has gotten a lot more polished from what I was seeing. |

KMPlayer is good, but the damn thing has issues. |
the one issue I know about is the damn lag (1-3 sec) after double-clicking on a file (unlike WinAMP) and the silly default graphical EQ in the main window (it just doesn't represent the actual dynamics of the frequency range. jumps randomly). but it reads every file known and unknown and has a bunch of useful features and tweaks and that easily makes up for those few drawbacks. anyways, to each his own:) |

The damn thing doesn't play WMAs very well. It is a pain in the ass to get it working. Also, 0 volume level is not muted, it still allows sound to come through. |
