these kids got way lucky. I think most guys can relate to them doing what they did. All of you at one poitn have sped or done someting to enduse an adrenalin rush. I def Understand it...had a modified 96 supra at one point and fully built race 69 gto dynoing 732 whp. So def understand what they did. But there are safer ways of going about it...i.e track...or if your not into the "legal" method there are tons of abanonded roads and strips to find. philly is FILLED with certain roads thats all it is. Jesus what a moron. Driving that fast and crashing and taping it is stupid enough but when will kids learn that putting stuff on the internet means ANYONE can see it.

Sounds like two things happened. Although I'm not sure, can someone confirm. It sounds like they hit the studed divider median - then the tire, which was likely very HOT due to road heatup at the highspeed, caused the tire to shred/pop, which destabalized the driver at high speed, which initiated the accident.

Anyone have more info on what happened? I also thought maybe wind got under the car and lifted it.

Very suprised they escaped with minor injuries. That car must be damn crash resistant, or they are damn lucky (or a combination of both)

Doing this at night is probably way more dangerous then in the day (for safety, not per se cops, as you'd likely blow right by them anyway and you are going too fast for a photo of your plates, chances are they would bring units in or air, but in all honesty I think that the night driving was part of the reason this became so dangerous. That and I'm geussing maybe the type of tires, or road conditions.

while this is a very well thought out theory, i think we'll all just agree that the crash was due to reckless douchebagness.:gsmile:

Was this in Dubai? Those guys drive nuts. It great that they can afford such machines but some of the antics will just get you killed and you dont get to enjoy all the luxuries.

They installed cameras allover the place, both permanant and mobile ones, in an effort to stop speedracing. There are many who have connections to get these speeding tickets removed w/o penalty, and these ironically tend to be the nuts with supercars...

p.s.-dont ever try to steal/destroy a mobile tripod speed camera after getting flashed :toothless .

16 years old. No idea why a parent would let a kid drive a 300hp car.

Because that's what they were going to drive pretty much from the beginning of their driving career?

I was friends with a guy at boarding school who learned on a Ferrari 355! His brother (a couple of years older than him) worked their way through cars like nobody's business. In his first year of driving he had a BMW M5, Mercedes CL600, a Mercedes S55 AMG, the aforementioned 355 and a few Porsches. Pretty much any desirable car, they'd had or owned it! They didn't total them, they'd just have them for a few months get bored and sell it. I mean, if you're going to drive high end performance cars from day 1 what's the point in learning in a Kia Rio?

Fortunately the guy was a very responsible driver and wasn't stupid enough to fall for the peer pressure to drive at insane speeds. My favourite car related story with him was when he got a new Porsche 996 delivered and didn't have any garage space for it at his house in the middle of London. As a result he gave it to one of my friends to keep at the school so it was there if he wanted to drive it. (our school only allowed students to keep one car each) He paid for all the insurance and petrol for whenever my friend wanted to drive it, no matter what it was for. My friend had the Porsche for about 4 months and didn't pay a dime for it, and the owner never used it! Good times...:gsmile:

Age of a car has no effect on it. There are cars built today that can't go 160.

Also, this kid needs his driving privileges revoked for like as others suggested. He doesn't belong driving. At all.
