Definitely a good night at Circus. Started Michelle's birthday weekend here and Rank 1 delivered. Place was packed and going off. Just goes to show that Circus can pack the place with top talent. And they didn't have to give out drink tickets either. Took off about 1:15 to catch Menno at Vanguard.
Sound was much improved although I have heard Circus sound better. Volume was more acceptable. I use musicians earplugs but I asked some friends who were plugless about the sound level and the said it was ok. Could use some EQing and little more deep bass too. I have my doubt about the sound quality of the arrays they installed to fill in the sound around the both. If you stand where the old DJ booth was, the sound was noticeably better. And I like the old location a 1000x better. Its what made Circus special. But at least the night was an enjoyable experience and then some.
Funniest of the night. Piet pointed to a chick up front ROLLING her ass off staring at the LED lights and imitated her with a retarded/drugged out face lol. Getting called out by the DJ in front of everyone, priceless :haha: |

| Hope Super 8 vs Tab can make it back soon too...was talking with a friend on Saturday about how that might have been the best set at Circus since I really don't remember when! :D. Sorry to go off topic, I just had to do it. :) |

as always i truly enjoy seeing and dancing to piet's set. hated leaving but it was michelle's birthday and i was her DD so we headed over to vanguard. i really liked piet's set more this time than last time he was in town. reminded me of the old piet sound i fell in love with :)
great to see some familar faces and the sound was better. but a double +1 on what greg said, the dj booth at circus is what made it unique and feel special. not using it is a crime, imo, and pisses me off, sorry. it's just a waste. |

| I had a great time saturday. I thought the sound in the main room was just fine once rank 1 got it dialed in. I think the openers just had the mixer cranked a bit high early in the night, particularly when the room was empty. It was substantially better once piet got on. I thought he played some great stuff too. I definatly like the old DJ setup in the main room, and thought that it was the best feature of the club. However, the setup on saturday was pretty amazing, they put in that new light business, and the new EAW speakers sound great. It was fun celebrating with michelle and the gang for her bday, the club was nice a busy and I got to see all the familiar faces I was hoping for. It was funny to get called out by management when walking up for being so harsh on the club lately LOL. I promised them an honest review, and circus def delivered saturday:D |

I know, right? I felt kinda bad going in after complaining about the sound. But at least they know we're not blowing smoke up their asses. And its nice to know they are listening. |

They were cool about it, Loc walked me in and bought me a drink. It was cool to see that they actually listen to their customers and cared enough to take some action. I think sarah and malia probably deserve some credit for that. I have always thought it was the best club in LA. You just cant match the club layout and the patio of circus. And while I have been critical of the sound and recent promotion of the club, its only because saturdays at circus have been such a huge part of my life the past 7 years or so and I want them to remain relevant in the EDM scene. |

and believe me bro, I don't even know you, but I appreciate that you guys did that!!!!!
Because the difference in sound (and lighting) was most def. noticeable last Saturday.
I didn't get called out by mgmnt, but, then again I'm a low profile dude who nobody knows :tongue3 |
