i like it. feels like im playing a fps, with my hands in wasd position.
Haha, i dont use those much.. but i do play alot of FPS games.. so i outta try out that technique.

Its the zooming that takes me the most time.

Really? Using the left click hold on the timeslider barcount area technique? It's so easy for me now, i do remember when it was crazy as hell tho coming from FL trying to move that thing around lol. my friends always have trouble with it

Yea, it seems to be really over responsive for me, im like flying around the sequencer...

Also for some reason cubase always seems to open the key rolls in the most akward view... I am not sure how it does it. Seems like it remembers the last key roll zoom from the last project that was opened and then it opens the key roll that size every time for the next session in cubase!

well for most movements i hold down the mouse wheel to move around the page, i only grab the timebar for resizing. also, when grabbing hte bar, up + down is zoom in/ zoom out, left + right are... left and right. you need to have good steady vertical mouse skills i guess lol.

It works okey, but for drums, programs like Ableton does this much much faster.

I some times just go in Ableton and make some basic drums which i import into Cubase and start a new track with, it takes 10 minutes to have a nice groove going.

For Cubase its worth noting, that almost everything you can think of is there a shortcut for which you need to set your own commands.

It can really help to have shortcuts or macros for things that you do over and over again.

yup! what do you use in ableton? Simpler? err Impluse is the drum one actually, right? That what you use? I like ableton, i use it the same way you do. When it comes to sequencing side of things, i like to switch to cubase.

Some of the samples in the Battery library load with "pre-loaded fx". For example, one of the samples could have a really sharp resonant eq preset maybe coupled with a heavy compression setting. This can cause some of the samples to clip really really badly

So check your fx page for each cell. If your loading your own samples then it shouldnt sound harsh at all.
Also check your voice settings in the top right hand corner if you are playing samples with long release times and lots of delays.......

Id rather record myself stomping my foot, clapping my hands and uhntss`ing with my mouth than to use Battery.

Yea I've never really liked it, but I don't know of any other good drum samplers.

I tried doing the laying it out by hand in cubase, its pretty nice.

The only problem is that adjusting the BPM of the track... they stay in the same spot and I could only get them back on beat by adjusting them by hand...

Yeah, you have to pick a tempo before hand.

One option is to use FL Studio as a VST plugin in Cubase, that could work for drum programming.

I moved from PC to Mac. I miss FL... mainly for its sample stretching utilities... it was really easy and you could get some ed up sounds with the algorithms in it.
