This case no.
However, we had a similar case out of Downtown L.A. Same deal, opium shipped from Turkey or Armenia via Fed Ex or UPS. Package gets intercepted at their headquarters by the DEA that work at the Fed Ex/UPS hubs, they drill a hole in, and opium comes out. Then they do a control delivery. (DEA work with local police acting like UPS/Fed EX worker) with a tracker in there. Plenty of surveillance all over. They wait and see who signs, and where it goes from there...then they take it down.
This new case went state (like I said, the new cases evidence isn't that strong), whereas the other went Federal. This new case is a 4 defendant case. A husband and pregnant wife, and the two transporters. (one of the transporters is out client).
Federal Jails are much better and cleaner, kinda like a motel. They call it Club Fed, however you do most of the time you get sentenced vs. at a state court you barely do what you get sentenced.
Can't talk much more about a pending case. ;) |

It would have been instant federal if they would have used usps, right?

congrats on passing the bar man, i jus failed my 2nd time (the first time by 13 pts) so I am (in a positive way) envious of you.
Though I'm not too bummed out since, having worked in law offices, most recently LA DA's office, it'd have been something interesting to try but a legal career is not something I would want to do for an extended period of time so more power to you. Just wanted to pass so I can say I passed that damn test haha. |

The test is definitely possible. I am a perfect example. Barely ever studies in high school (or undergrad for that matter.)
You must dedicate yourself for 2+ months. Make the bar your life, wake up study, sleep, study...I took a course called LECC, retired Professor Schmitt from Southwestern Law. The guy is mean, he is a grouch, however he prepares students well.
I also issue spoted and read every sample answer of every bar exam fact pattern and multiple choice released on the calbar website.

I went against the odds, pass rate this time was 33% total, and my schools first time pass rate is low 20ish%. These percentages mean nothing.
Need any advice, just ask, but you must be willing to put the time in.
