Sounds weak. I just picked up a job training is 14/hr and after 4 months it goes up to 23/hr.

How much do you guys make when you take an internship:conf:

I got offered 1 that pays only 800 a month but they give me full health ensurance (which i dont really care about). After 6 months, if they want me, it goes up more i guess... the 800 is really to provide gas money to get to and from downtown.

Is that good:conf:

depends on the industry. when i was in school, i either made $0 or $25 a day PLUS had to pay my school to get credit for the internship so overall i lost money but gained experience. it really depends on the industry but a lot of people do make nothing.

I seriously don't understand how you guys can stand to do an internship. It's like slave labor.

because sometimes you have to just to make connections plus you have to put it on your resume. i've done so much random for free so i could put it on my resume, it helps when you graduate and look for a job.

Luckily I don't have that problem. And I've worked for professors in the chem dept doing R&D so an internship.

I'd say it depends on the internship. IMO the most legit ones make you do real work, not too different from what the actual employees do (look at software internships at google etc). It's a philosophy of picking good people and saying "let's see what you can do" rather than saying "you can't do anything, so we'll waste your time with bs so you can put it on a resume." I've had a couple of the former type but no experience with the latter, so that may be a bit extreme. It also seems field dependent, in that some fields are more concerned with seniority/experience, though that seems to me more like an ingrained cultural view that doesn't entirely value merit.
