hey guys i've been hearing alot of songs that have a swing/shuffle rhythm to them. I've been trying to recreate this effect but the result usually sounds sketchy. so could someone explain to me how this is done?. i know theres some triple notes but i don't fully undertsnad how to place them.

here's a couple samples of what i'm talking about

This is usually done with the quantize settings in your DAW, however, i heard Guru is a favourite tool for those kinds of rhythms.

In the new issue of future music the producer masterclass is with funkagenda, he talks about what you just brought quite a bit.

You can do it manually by moving every other 16th note back about 1/64th note starting on the 2nd 16th note. If that makes any sense.

Cubase... highlight your notes, go to MIDI > Quantize Setup... Choose 1/16th or 1/8th and set swing percentage to desired amount (50% works great).

Ableton, look in clip view for similar settings (albiet you have less control)

I've heard a lot of minimal producers swear by 33% swing for their kind of sound. Not saying I'd suggest it as any kind of rule though.

its too much imo. 15% is more than enough to create some "human errors/liveness" in the music which keeps the music from being synthetical.

Track elements like this are very subjective.
