Recent LA transplant Damian Lazarus, founder of the highly influential Crosstown Rebels label, will be bringing his legendary Get Lost party series to Los Angeles for the first time June 6 at Avalon Hollywood, celebrating the US release of his debut artist album ‘Smoke The Monster Out’ (Get Physical). This will be a rare chance to hear 5 of the world's most talented producters/dj's all in one night
Enlisting the help of very special guests Detroiter Matthew Dear, Berlin’s M.A.N.D.Y and Grammy nominated Brit Nic Fanciulli, Lazarus will debut his groundbreaking live show in Los Angeles, before closing the party with a unique six deck set with M.A.N.D.Y and Matthew Dear.
Get Lost has become an internationally renowned party since it began in Miami four years ago. A number of incredible one off events saw the party grow from strength to strength in London, Berlin, Mexico and Madrid. Bewildering, but mind-blowingly brilliant, Get Lost takes club-goers on a wild foray into the world of subversive electronic music.
For one night only, Avalon will be transformed into a twisted vision of a discothèque in true Get Lost form. Animal heads, trees, vines, lasers, a custom made visual projection and suspended art work will ensure party goers have no choice but to follow Lazarus & Friends on this warped journey down the rabbit hole.
‘Smoke The Monster Out’ is the debut album from Damian Lazarus released by Get Physical Music in June 2009. A truly personal record, ‘Smoke The Monster Out’ is full of unusual acoustic instrumentation and delicately wrought arrangements that draw upon Lazarus’ diverse personal influences as a music lover, suffusing them with the twisted dancefloor alchemy we associate with his DJ sets.
To accompany the album’s release Lazarus will be unveiling a one of a kind fully live show that makes it West Coast debut at Avalon on June 6. Built from scratch, the live set offers an exclusive opportunity to hear new club versions of the more introspective album material. The live set includes Swedish twin vocalists Taxi Taxi from Stockholm, an incredible film made for the live set by David Terranova and Lazarus and his 'Monster' box of electronic tricks (plus him doing a bit of singing too). This will be Lazarus as you’ve never seen or heard him before.
To add to this monumental show, Nic Fanciulli is also celebrating the release of his Global Underground DJ 001 CD that is out now at your favorite music stores. Nic's new CD is a departure from what has normally been released on GU in the past with lots of tracks from the future of dance of dance music producers such as Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones and Nic himself. Be sure to check out his new CD and look for free swag that will be given out in the club throughout the night.
LA's Droog will start the night off in proper fashion while the highly talented Luke Solomon, who collaborated with Damian on his album, provides a DJ set in Honey for those of you who enjoy a more intimate room. He will be joined by Lee Foss and relative newcomer, Clovis, who you'll be a hearing a lot from in the near future.
