If someone like Tommy Haas (no offence, decent player, but not as good as he used to be) can take 2 sets off Federer and push him like he did in the 3rd set, then someone in the top 10 would probably beat him.
Fair play though, showed some fighting quality and at least changed his gameplan up in order to win the match. Something Nadal couldn't do.
Draw opened up nicely for Murray here, but he'll still need to win against a couple of good clay-courters if he's to make the final. A Murray - Federer finale would be awesome though.
Safina is demolishing everything she's playing against right now, but I've rarely seen one player dominate a grand slam without at least having a slight hiccup somewhere along the way. Her's is still to come. |

wholeheartedly agree with you on the federer and safina train of thought. federer had no business letting haas push him like that and safina needs to persevere through some type of test. although i think this is getting her confidence up which she definitely needs if she is going to win in paris. i would love her to beat serena because i don't like her comments about knowing who the #1 player is in the world, too cocky. i like williams but give dinara some respect for being #1. |

| federer wasn't exactly being pushed around. federer won EVERY point on his serve until the first set tiebreak. haas is still a pretty skilled player, but lacks that killer instinct. |

sorry chimera. your girl Serena is out.
Kuznetsova-Serena was a very good match. Serena made a strong push in the 2nd set, and it all came down to grit in the 3rd. Kuznetsova just hit the better shots at the right time.
in the other women's match no one really cares about, Stosur beat Cirstea.
time for some Monfils-RFed action. As much as i am a RFed fan, i want to see Monfils come out as the winner here, because he has cool hair, shows good emotion, and i like to shout out his name. MONFIII!!!! |

monfils played so well in the first set and even had a set point unfortunately from there he faltered once he lost the first set. during the third there looked like he might have a chance but after dropping the first two to roger chances were he wasn't going to rally back and beat roger. too bad really...
as for serena oh well happens. i like her because she's essentially a machine on the court but i want safina to win. didn't watch more than a couple points of that match but from the score looks like they were both playing decently |

RFed went into machine mode after that first set tiebreak. Monfils had no chance. Soderling may have a chance against RFed, and Del Potro looks to give him some problems too. Yes. This is all or bust for RFed. this is his best chance to win it. i don't think he's going to get another opportunity like this in the future.
forgot about Gonzo. Gonzo looked very strong against Murray, and can give RFed problems. |

I wouldn't say Murray got thrashed. A 4 set defeat doesn't really scream "demolition job!" but he went walkabouts in that 3rd set. God knows what he was thinking after levelling up in the 2nd set and getting himself back into the match. Gonzo though was far too strong on clay, and as good a player as he is defensively, Murray simply couldn't cope with the attacking firepower Nando had to offer.
I didn't see too much of the Fed - Mofils match this afternoon because of work, but I heard it was pretty much routine for Federer. Looks ominous for him. I thought the momentum gained from his victory over Nadal would fizzle out, but Soderling's looking like a real threat and my tip to get to the final.
Del Pony has been owned by Federer on pretty much every match this year and I don't expect he'll give him many problems in the other semi.
Safina's now had a couple of competitive matches under her belt (how hot was Azarenka by the way :)) and a Safina - Kuznestova final is my tip on the women's side. |

| yeah the two russian girls in the final makes sense. dinars clinched a spot and svetlana took the first set |
