So who decides who lives and who dies? Nature seems to do a pretty damned good job of population control via storms, earthquakes, floods, droughts, tsunamis, war (assuming war is a natural part of man's nature), etc. If we are truly "overpopulated," nature will bitch slap us back to something far more "manageable" whether we like it or not.

that's funny, i had a random thought today while driving around. i wonder if promiscuity is really a subconcious effort to survive as a human race.

Sure it is. We've simply reached the dichotomy where, as a society, we've decided such behavior is morally "bad". We have the ability to consciously decide who we do or not have sex/procreate with. But the desire to have as many healthy offspring with as many mates as possible is still buried back there in the deepest recesses of the brain. Of that, I have no doubt.

yea but the ironic part is the biggest fear of promiscuity (aside from catching an STD) is pregnancy lol

Yes, it is indeed the great irony. I wonder if we are the only species that has the ability to make the conscious decision of who we choose to mate with. Last time I checked, dogs, for example, don't seem to give a .

no i know...you mean abortion right? i just meant if we are on some subconcious level trying to survive as a human race by ing as many people as we can, yet if/when you guys get a girl pregnant it's like "oh , abortion time" lol then it ends up being counter productive

Yes but if you're careful you shouldn't be getting everyone pregnant. Rarely things do go awry. I do admit that much.

ok you're missing my point lol

even though a pregnancy is NOT wanted on a concious level, it IS wanted on a subconcious level. that's what is ironic about it. every species has a purpose on this planet. to reproduce and survive as a race/species. animals do it all the time. look at lions n knocking up female lions and then disappearing and knocking up other lions lol it's no different than some baby daddy who has 3 illegitimate children:stongue:

I think the irony you speak of Jamie, the "omg she's pregnant" thing is a product of a more advanced society placing more moral norms and responsibilities on people. It creates that fear of pregnancy, but at the same time it's hard to suppress millions of years of evolution telling us "make moar babies," if you follow me. Again, I would argue we are probably the only species that faces this dichotomy.
