At first glance I thought.. "not another ing remix" must admit I do like it alot. Bassline is evil!

Nope, I don't need a DeLorean to flee from techy sounds, it's just that this release struck me as one of many lately that sounds cheap and thoughtless, written on auto-pilot. Sounds like throwaway music to me. And I know that some will defend the pivotal importance of throwaway tunes to get the club hopping or whatever, but for me dance music ought to be listening music as well, more than just club-bumping fodder. Some might say that is just hopelessly idealistic, but I can afford to be that way since I never have to think about whether my choice in tunes will please anyone but me. I like something that I think I'll enjoy for more than a few months, and hopefully for more than a few years even. And these tracks certainly don't fit that bill.

...well then maybe this music was not really made for you to judge or listen to in the first place? Dance music has multiple uses, and in different context has different value. And here, those values are'nt really being allocated for those different contexts. I've had this debate with someone already, I think it was nefardec. I dont like this release myself, but again the reality is that there is a purpose for this type of music, and obviously it is not for you. Which does dequalify your opinion outside of a personal taste context. Personal taste wise, sure your opinion, great, awesome, but what does it really mean towards the music when often the context of the music is being overlooked?

If we superimpose this music, or "tech" music as you say, onto a dancefloor, give it to a DJ that actually plays this type of music, we might have different results. Not every single piece of music is made for you, me, or anyone here on TA, some have dancefloor trashing purposes, ESPECIALLY remixes. They are'nt really for your memory creating meditation while listening to the music. I think you need to go back to understanding the purpose of a remix is, usually its job is not to be timeless, but rather be useful on contemporary dancefloors so that it can attract a new set of DJs and listeners to the original artist, label, music.

At this point I dont know if it is idealism anymore, it might be more ignorant to require some of the things you guys ask for out of music, that really is not intended to be what you want it to be. I'm working a remix right now, and honestly its tough. The original track is self sufficient and doesnt need a rework, but what I can do is create a new audience for it for different dancefloors that the original might not reach.

If you want more timeless music, or music that you would want to hold onto for a while and listen to more than once, your best bet is to look at original mixes of the music, instead of remixes. There is a reason why you hear more original pieces of music on compilations than remixes, they have more potential to end up timeless, while remixes are made primarily for dancefloors for the most current genres/scenes. Sure remixes can be timeless at times, but its far more realistic for a producer to create original music that is timeless, than to take someone elses piece and still mould something timeless out of it.

Aite gotta get some rest, Damian Lazurus, half of M.A.N.D.Y, Luke Solomon, Nic Fanciulli, Matthew Dear all tonite @ Avalon.

I think he is Spirit, but like some kind of Mirror Universe version. Except instead of rocking the bad-ass goatee, he's wearing a hipster scarf.

That little outburst is entirely reasonable imo

Producers who stick to a single formula are boring...lest I remind you the brilliant discussion we all had about Stimming...

I hate this track and most of Radio Slave too, but JBJ has been hating on pretty much all-things-tech house ever since he came back from hiatus and praising old trance. My point is that he is starting to sound a bit too much like Nostalgic :p

Now Kismet on the other hand seems to be the exact opposite as he seems to love all-things-.

boooring ... :o :o :o

I don't need to listen to it to know it is a 10/10. Anything Radio Slave even looks at turns into Au.
