| How exactly do cigarettes relieve stress? Is it the act of smoking itself. Is it the mild buzz it gives you? I'm just asking because I don't see what's so good about them, but yet, many people love them so much they can't stop. |

I've only smoked a few cigarettes, but I have found the act itself pretty relaxing. Standing still, taking long and regular breaths, and the repetitive smoking motion.
It's weird, I hadn't smoked in probably a year, but when I was really stressed out a couple months ago I saw some guys smoking outside and felt like bumming a cigarette and joining them because it seemed like it might calm me down. Didn't do it, though. |

it's what i explained in the car. same thing with smoking weed or any other substance for that matter, they all have chemicals and crap that induce good feelings but primarily its just the ACT of smoking- it's almost addicting to a mental level.. so like you might think that smoking weed is calming you down.. but really its the *thought* in your head "im smoking weed, finally" & the smell and all that crap that makes it so GOOD and addicting to YOU.. cos there's other people who don't care much for it, as you do with cigarettes. :o |

Never really had a problem with cigarettes. Even when I was working for a check cashing company and getting stressed the out off of dumbass customers, I would only smoke one cigarette in a week. Now that I don't work there anymore, I have no reason to smoke that 1 cigarette, and would rather puff away bowls of the weed. It just feels better to me and lasts longer than a cigarette can. Pot is my anti-tobacco.
Although I really don't understand people who smoke pot and then have to smoke a cigarette immediately afterward. I mean if you still need to relax after inhaling THC, then why bother in the first place? |

I find that publicly announcing it makes it harder.
If i just go quietly about my business without putting on the added pressure of worrying about letting everyone else down as well as myself, it usually helps a bit.
not that i've ever really quit..but i've gone a few weeks. |

between WMC and DEMF i was smoking way too much over the last few months.
it's good timing. i was going to have to quit once i move home this summer anyway... so i figured getting an early start on it would make it an easier transition. |

there's your problem. Beer is foul, fags are filthy, the combination is rank. |
