yes.. way to deny any free agency in the world. It's not your own decisions that are responsible for the repercussions.. it's this entity called "reality" over which you have no control. Next time you walk past the bottle of Draino in the supermarket just open it up and take a swig.. after all common sense and your own reponsibility don't come into it. If "Reality" didn't want you to drink it why would there be a whole isle devoted to toxic cleaning products right? |

I'm not scared to die at all (other than the grief it would cause to my family). I just don't make silly decisions. I don't put my life at risk for little reward. I'd be happy to take a risk for the sake of personal growth and development... I lead a risky, stupid lifestyle for much of my youth, I'm more surprised than anyone that my body wasn't found lying on some traintracks somewhere. I just don't see eating some random thing I find as offering me any kind of enjoyment or opportunity that I couldn't get otherwise.
On the one hand there is chance of death, on the other hand I don't have any benefit to balance against it... maybe a tasty meal if I'm lucky. To me that is a stupid risk to take for no benefit... but that is the difference between you and me.
Also.. just FYI There are NO common characteristics to toxic fungi. Some are bright and toxic looking, others are dark and inconspicuous and nearly identical to well-known edible/gourmet varieties.. very experienced mushroom pickers die every year by making these mistakes.
