A question for you physics/electronics pro

Well this question is kinda stupid , but it has kept me wondering for days.

I noticed , when you put a sawtooth wave in 2 osc , same pitch and same tune , and invert one of the sawtooths , there is no output.
What is the reason?

They phase eachother out.

cryophonik
Phase cancellation. In other words, when one wave is at a positive value in its cycle, the other is at the same value, only negative and vice-versa. Hence, the total sum of the two waves at any given time is always zero, which equals no output.

This explanations works quite well for me..
So its like ,
-1 + 1 = 0?
Fledz
Pretty much, as long as their output is grouped.

I have another question... This one is about frequency and EQing.

IS the "frequency" in EQing similar to the "frequency" in pitch?
what is EQing? What does it mean when you edit the higher/lower frequency of a sound?

Yes. "Frequency" is just the speed at which waves of air vibrate.

But then wouldnt EQing a Sound change its pitch or tune?
Since EQing is altering the frequency of a sound?

Im sounding stupid but Im really confused..

EQing lowers or raises the volume of certain frequency ranges. It doesn't shift the entire spectrum upward or downward, which is what you would have to do to change the pitch.

questions in order to be a legit producer? Stop scaring me.

Im still trying hard to understand about the EQing and pitch thing but..

No you dont need to know these stuff to be a producer.. I doubt even Tiesto knows about it ;)

Yes if you are too agressive when EQing. The trick is to remove all the frequencies of that sound that you don't need as they clash with other sounds and make your track muddy.

Pretty sure he does. May have been funny 7 years ago, it isn't anymore. Move on already.
