USA 3 - 0 Egypt
USA 2 - 0 Spain

I'm shocked we won. I'm not going to lie, i thought we had no chance. It's good to see we can bounce back like this after those first 2 horrid games. However we have gotten 3 red cards in the last 4 games, some not deserved, but still an issue. Hopefully we can pull this out, but even if we lose in the finals, all that matters to me is that we beat those damn Mexicans in Mexico in WC qualifying in august.

haha That's what they said about us winning against Spain ;)

On another note, I think everyone in Europe is elated over this game. It just leveled the playing field, as they all realized simultaneously, "Hmmm... We're not all that good anymore,"... England realized it a few Cups ago, then France and Germany, recently Italy, and now Spain... They've all gotta watch their backs in 2010, and it's a scary thought..

i have faith in argentina for 2010. we are taking it! :D

I've been hearing the media asking all these questions after we beat Spain. Things like, what does this win mean? Does this tourney even matter? Was it a fluke? Do we have to beat Brazil now?

I'm just thinking, jesus can't we just be happy we beat the best team in the world?

The US' victory over spain, to me, means that no one should take us lightly. we aren't a joke, and as time goes on we will be getting big, stronger and more skilled athletes on the field. Are we in the top 10 worldwide? not even close.... top 20? maybe

im just happy we got busy on Spain. Man of the match imo was tim howard

I only watched the second half of the game, so correct me if i'm wrong.

I still think we didnt look very good. I dont know what game people are watching but our goaltender was getting hammered with Spain's skillful offense, while our second goal was merely a combination of luck/mistake by a spanish player.

I am super glad we won, but the reason why people arent as excited as we should be, is because it was CLEAR who the better team was. USA played extremely sloppy, especially with their passing and defense up the middle.

Its awesome to win, but the performance itself puts a huge amount of questions and pressure for any future games. We are not guaranteed anything! hopefully they take this win as a sign that they can (at the very least) hang with the best, but not get cocky. There is no reason to be cocky, because even tho we beat the best team, the efforts put in do not necessarily reflect the score.

one that note, I have to agree with that one announcer guy "You dont have to be the best team in the world, you have to be the best team in the stadium...."

TRUE EFFING STORY!!! :p

when I played soccer in HS the coach always told us, take the ball down and cross it. Hit balls into the box, make runs. If you put the ball in danger enough times, either something on our side will click, or something on their side will up. So the luck/mistake thing, yes and no I guess. We got lucky cause of his mistake, but we were there, in the right position, putting the ball in danger, which took a team effort to do.

We did play really sloppy, especially on counter attacks in many cases. We'd get the ball and just try and move forward too quickly and without numbers. it was really frustrating to watch.

with that said, no, we do not have the right to be cocky. but we do have the right to be confident that we can hang in there. and under the right circumstances, the US can in fact be the best team in the stadium against anyone

Yeah it's ridiculous... Everyone's like "Oh it's just a Confederations Cup, it means nothing"... Sure, maybe it means nothing, but Spain had all its REAL players, as does every other team, and it's not a friendly...

Yeah I've been saying for years, since he played in NY, that he's easily one of the top 10 goalies in the world... He gets so big in goal, and has the quickest reflexes.. He reminds me of Oliver Kahn, the way he plays...

Brazil vs USA. I thought Brazil got lucky at the end with that foul, but otherwise game was pretty close. I guess Sunday's game should be good if USA upsets them. LOL.
