as i say what matters is the music & value that we are able to offer by selling in this way.. 22 wavs (not mp3s) for 10.99 = 50p per track.. If you don't like this idea , fine, if you do great

thanks all

I totally get the value of the package, what I don't get is why you're selling it as if it's something groundbreaking when in fact you're just giving tracks for a cheaper price and giving away a free USB stick.
And as a label's PR you sure have problems dealing with criticism from potential customers :p

we're not saying its anything groundbreaking.. the whole wording on the ad is based around the fact that we are able to do just what ive been pointing out .. put more tracks on a product ( a usb stick ) & make it available at a 'reduced price'.. we actually used those words in the ad..

i don't have a problem with feedback at all... i welcome it ( otherwise we wouldn't post on message boards ;)

I like the USB stick idea, is actually pretty goood. I think more EDM labels should incorporate it. Maybe have custom USB sticks with the Artists Name some ART and the Label name on the USB stick. I think there are plenty of people out there without a USB stick that might see a lot of value in this. EDM labels need to keep innovating to make up for the poor mainstream distribution channels.

It's pretty funny that not one word was mentioned about the actual music they are pushing. Anybody here venture to check any samples out?

You used the words "baroque to release usb stick album" on the title as if you're inventing a new medium. The catch here, really is the fact that you're selling the package for a very reduced price. ;)

LOL, how are mp3 downloads a "poor mainstream distribution channel"? If anything, it certainly is the most effective, and fastest distribution channel there is. You go to an online store, you listen to a sample of a track, you like it, you buy it, and 2 minutes later you have it on your hard drive. No long waiting times, and no expensive shipping costs and taxes to pay for imports. Immediate satisfaction.

Little to no retail = Poor Distribution. EDM labels need to find new ways to bring good music to the people outside of the internet. Maybe they should start selling CDs directly at clubs, next to the coat checks. Label should create mutual agreement deals with clubs to have a selection of the most upfront albums/compilations for that quarter, and have a section of the club that sells CDs. It could be great business for both the club and of course the labels who have very hard time distributing electronic music. And this deal MUST bypass old distribution deals, and be directly between label and club promoter. No middleman for this one. Pinch in a slight price markup, everything is marked up at a club anyways, enough margin for the club so that the club promoter is making enough money to warrant the space and the employee overseeing the retail. Everyone wins...the Label, the Club, the Scene, and the Consumer.
Paradox Lost
Although I'm not sure how many releases of this size are available at comparable prices, $10.99 for 22 tracks certainly is a great value in terms of what the general going rate for digital downloads are.

As for the inclusion of a USB release, I really don't see this as a worthwhile idea unless the USB drive itself is flavored with unique artwork/case design. Otherwise, you're just picking up the same tracks you can otherwise download, and scoring yourself a 2 gig USB drive in the process- which is certainly cool, but nothing terribly relevant to the label/music.

You need a new Graphic Designer. That is one hideous looking flyer. Justified type? Seriously?

Just a lame attempt to keep buyers attached to a physical media, really.
