...but the site is definitely down. Anyone tried calling them? I'd be surprised if they shut the doors.

I've noticed a lot of stores that have shut down on the internet but if you go to their shop, they are still packed with customers. I think I know why, too. A lot of people have been going to thier sites to listen to their tunes, only to buy a cheap download, at some download site, if they hear a tune that they like. How cheesy is that? I have personally sent a load of vinyl stores a lot of suggestions, by e-mail, and one of them is to take it underground. And another is that you should stop trying to cater to everyone. Try only to cater to DJs, like it used to be done in the 90s and before that time. It is not important that everyone knows about every song that comes out. In fact, I think it is important to keep great underground music, underground. Nothing creates the hype in a club like an aweome tune that everyone and their mamas haven't already heard before! So em if people are geting pissed because tunes are hard to find, now. It's for their own good. And vinyl stores were doing just fine in the 90s...and before that time...But don't be a sell out to the commercial scene...

I kinda agree with that. I've been upset many times before when I've found an amazing tune myself after doing some digging, only to find out that there's a huge fucking ad on Beatport's front page.

but there are sooo many tunes that beat port don't have. New ones and old ones. But if you're a DJ, you don't want vinyl to die just for the reason that you just stated. You want to be able to get tunes that everyone hasn't heard of yet. What joy is there if you can't get tunes that no one has heard of yet?? What joy is there in beatport or trackitdown??

Agreed. It's very satisfying to grab a record that hasn't gone so mainstream. Shame to see the site down.
