I was looking at that Euphonix control box PVD is using yesterday. Has a keyboard and trackball mouse built in as well as full DAW control.

Firstly, egg boxes do all to balance acoustics in a studio. This "technique" came about in the 70's and it was disproved about 10 years later but it seems many didn't get the memo.
Yes, you will get a basic diffusion but so will will stapling live cats to your ceiling - doesn't mean it will help the overall sound quality of your studio environment.
Oh yeah, and the whole acoustics treatment thing is an eleborate conspiracy of scientists and sound engineers to sell cheap foam at really high margin. Don't both with any of it. Your PC speakers will sound just fine to mix in surround.
Tenaglia's studio actually makes sense - Having a club PA isn't a bad idea if most of your music is going to get played on that in the end.
Having said that, I know for a fact that a few of those photos are fake (i.e. not really their studios). Here's a hint: the really tidy studios and ones where they look like their not posing but actually are.
I use the full Euphonix System 5's at work - it's a great system and in fairness the 5-mc is a good solution for the money. It's really not that expensive when you add it up (fully automted digital desk, converters, digital patchbay, GUI, mic pre's, etc.). |

Actually, I didn't realise which system it was. The one PVD uses is in fact �60k.
