Good TL. Love my melodic trance, especially from that era and anything with Hydra - Affinity and Rui Da Silva - Touch Me deserves a listen anyway.
Ahaha I love how people love to throw in this old crap in. The peak of trance was in 1999-2001, not in the early 90s like some of you want to make everyone else believe. Simply put, most trance years before that was boring, dull and too hypnotic for it's own good. That track is a classic example of a boring track which people like you want to make look like it's the "real classic trance" when it fact it's just old. Just because something is old doesn't automatically make it better than something new. |

Yea good call, that is true. I probably could have worded that better.
What annoys me is how people automatically equate something old as better. Everything peaks at some point, especially music. There has to be a point where old is actually worse while still in the developmental stages, not better. I hear a lot more good trance in the mid to late 90s and the early 2000s than I do in the early 90s and late 80s, yet someone always throws in something from 4 decades ago preaching to everyone like it was created by God himself. |

Well Diamind Bullet was highly original at the time it was released, that mysterious and entrancing atmosphere hadn't been heard in German techno music (which was quite hard at that time) till that point. It was one of the tracks that kickstarted MFS label, and we all know how important MFS was for development of trance.
I agree that there are better classic trance tracks (even on that X-Mix compilation), but Diamond Bullet is definitely a classic and people don't respect it just because it's old. Although I don't like using the word soul when it comes to music, Diamon Bullet definitely has a sould, which can't be said for most of the tracks in that tracklist. |

Ahahah. How about opening your damn ears and hear how dark, crude and hypnotizing it sounds....do you know the meaning of the word trance? Let's check the dictionary shall we?
trance: an unconscious, cataleptic, or hypnotic condition.
That was the point of the genre when it first was started. To be brood, dark, hypnotizing. To be able to float in the ty lasers of the illegal clubs not like it was in '00 when it was most about the show than the music. Yes, it's old, and yes, it's damn good.
Also who cares about the peak? The thread name is "classic". Not peak-trance time. |
