The practical MMA form of JJ is BJJ...I've never heard of anyone in MMA specifically specializing in the old school Japanese form of the art. Where did you get this info from?

According to Wikipedia, he practice YawaraRyu JiuJitsu.

I have NEVER heard of that style. I practice DaitoRyu Aiki with a friend that is a black belt. I guess we haven't got that far up yet. LoL

The old style of JiuJitsu its pretty much gone. Only Nimpo [AKA Ninjutsu] still carries the old JuJitsu teachings. If I'm not mistaken, there's only 2 official ninjutsu schools in the world.

I've been practicing Martial arts since I was 6 y/o. All that useless knowledge is finally useful. LoL

BJJ is def. not my forté. Im more of a striker. The only locks I know is from practicing Judo. I should focus more on Katame Waza (grappling) then Ne waza (throws).

I cant wait for UFC 100 I'm usually good at calling the PPV's. But i suck in calling the UFC Fight Nights. haha

I do bjj & mauy thai here in ct myself. I think jujitsu can stillbe used up about a year an a half ago now to do bjj and mauy thai as well. Do you go to a school in ny?

I go to a Royler Gracie affiliated school in NJ.

BTW, no hard feelings over our little disagreement lol. I can argue/debate about MMA all day / night. Its going to be a great fight for sure....even though Hendo is going win. ;)

I still think jujitsu can be used in the ufc, honestly there's some differences between bjj & jj. But its not like night and day, they still focus on takedowns, shooting, joint locks, chokes, just like bjj, just in bjj some things are done differently. I think imo to say its dated or not pratical is wrong. That's like saying judo isn't adaptable to the ufc. I do think you need more then a little jujitsu to win fights in the ufc. But knowing it won't hurt your chances of a win. But anyway were getting off topic I say war Bisping!!!

not at all man and same here btw, I love the sport and talking about it. Its fun having debates over who's better styles that work or don't in the octagon or ring. But yea man I'm the sameway I could talk about fighters and styles night an day. I go to Ultimate mma in new haven ct. The only that sucks about living in CT is that there's no good Sambo school I really wanted to take that up as well. How do you feel about Fedor.

Any art can be used for Mixed Martial Arts. Of course yo have to master it first.

Take Lyoto Machida. Nobody in the world thought Karate would be effective in MMA competition. Since he was able to adapt his Karate knowledge to MMA, he's a HUGE puzzle for all fighters.

I gotta say I go by this movie line/quote by Bruce Lee. Both in Martial Arts & Music:

Teacher: What is the highest technique you hope to achieve?
Lee: To have no technique.
