Nexus featuring BLINKY [LIVE]

After a decade of classical music training, a natural progression towards producing dance music was a result of Bill Hunter’s desire to have autonomous control over the music he was aspiring to make. Beginning at such a young age has given Bill the opportunity to thoroughly learn the art of producing and through lengthy devotion to music, his natural talent has become obvious.

One of Melbourne’s most notable young producers and live performers under the moniker Blinky, he has proceeded to gain a cult following with his energetic live shows. With a live act comprised of his laptop, midi controller, and synths and his signature antics, Blinky has become a feature attraction of many events regularly playing the likes of Earthcore, Rainbow Serpent, Trance Energy, Kiss My Grass and more intent on doing things on his terms and not willing to compromise saw Blinky hold of on realeasing any music until finally in August 08 he released the "There's A Jesus In My Nectarine EP", the premier release on his imprint BeatGeek Records. The release received critical acclaim and along with his remix of Kultrun's "Drift Away" his work has recieved support from the likes of Andy Moor, The Flash Brothers, Matt Rowan, Dumb Dan, Dubfire, Elke Kleijn, DJ Vibe, M.O.D.E. and
even a look in from Armin Van Buuren as well as featuring heavily on the charts of some of the major download stores.

Over the years Blinky has aided in unearthing and showcasing local talent by means of Melbourne’s Kiss FM radio station. also entitled Beat Geek, a weekly showcase of music Melbourne and Australia made music, Blinky has presented a blend of upcoming music producers and also shared his own unique tunes on a weekly basis.

In between playing at gigs like Earthcore Global Music Festival and Kiss My Grass and supporting international acts like Infected Mushroom, Andy Moor, Meat Katie and Martin Roth, Blinky has also found the time to run a club night in collaboration with Melbourne DJ Ben Evans, the two have experienced overwhelming acclaim with their regular Interview parties and have also had the honour of running Melbourne’s Gatecrasher 2006 party.

Whether it be live, in the studio or on radio, Blinky is undeniably a working part of Melbourne’s fast paced dance music scene. Already garnering vast success with Beat Geek Records, Interview and his live performances and releases, 2009 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet for Blinky with current talks with labels in Germany, Australia and Sweden all looking to collaborate with Blinky not to mention whispers of a new label headed up by the man himself - at this stage there seems to be no end to the Blinky saga.

Nexus featuring MIKE NICHOL (ASOT/ARMADA/INFRASONIC)

From the days of attending nearly all club events, in order to watch and learn from the huge range of international djs that graced the decks in his native Melbourne, to his present day position of regularly djing alongside and providing killer productions and remixes that grace the cd wallets of the very djs he use to spend hours watchingt Mike Nichol is no five minute wonder or passing sensation but the real deal in every sense of the phrase.

Enjoying wide ranging and heavy weight support from the trance establishment in recent time, Mike has begun to gain the acclaim and success worldwide that so many in his native Australia and neighbouring New Zealand have been enjoying for some time.

Proving a regular stalwart in the cd wallets, tracklistings and radio playlists of the likes of world number one dj Armin van Buuren (A State of Trance), Eddie Halliwell (BBC Radio 1), Ferry Corsten, John O'Callaghan, John Askew and Aly and Fila to name but a few. Mike Nichol has firmly established himself as one of Australia's greatest dance music exports in recent time and one of the most exciting new artists to emerge from the southern hemisphere in the trance scene for some time.

It has not been a rags to riches fairy tale or overnight rise to stardom but the result of years of hard work, consistently producing the goods whether it be through his eagerly anticipated and widely regarded dj appearances or indeed his recent studio output.

From his EP, 'Durado/Morning Kiss', to his recent remix of 'Dream Flight', and 'Lost for Words' on Armin van Buuren's Armada label; all of Mike's tracks have been dancefloor destroyers, bringing with them support from the big jocks and acclaim from trance fans worldwide.

It is little wonder that recent material has found its way onto a plethora of compilations including tracks and remixes featuring on "Godskitchen 10tth Anniversary ", "Armada Trance", “Dream Dance Vol 48”, "Trancemaster 5008", “The Best Trance Remixes Vol 3” & Ferry Corsten's latest Gatecrasher compilation to pick several notable examples.

Whilst productions have taken Mike to a new level it is his djing that really proves his quality and cements his reputation as one of the most exciting names in trance music. Enjoying regular and repeat bookings all over Australia, especially in his native Melbourne and also neighbouring New Zealand, he has appeared alongside the biggest djs to have made the journey down under, playing to capacity crowds at some of the regions premier events and festivals on a regular basis.

With bookings and demand in Europe and the northern hemisphere proving his worldwide appeal, Mike Nichol continues to set a standard that is proving hard to be bettered. Proving that dedication and hard work coupled with talent and experience is truly the way forward in a scene increasingly becoming more demanding, knowledgeable and intolerant of overnight, five minute wonders or overhyped, marketing projects that so many new djs and producers are becoming.

Coupling his unique sound, cutting edge productions and an ear for quality dance music with one of the most energetic and technically flawless styles of djing he is truly a dj that leaves dancefloors and clubbers astounded and wanting more. Mike Nichol is truly the real deal and one to seriously watch out for.

"There's a big track right now called Durado from Mike Nichol, always goes down well in my sets"
- Armin van Buuren

"Durado is a massive piece of quality trance - do not miss this one! 9/10"
- John O'Callaghan

"A technically amazing DJ and an entertainer that will keep you glued to the floor!"
- Galen Behr
